Description From the explorer's Journal (You can see him standing in the green light in the top left part of the picture):
As I stepped through the portal that was buried so deep within the mountains earth my eyes were for the first time truly opened. I always thought that we only had one world, only one existence to work with. Oh, how wrong I was!
To a certain extend the other side looked similar to our own. It was different though. The light I was confronted with seemed so intense, not in its brightness but rather in its clarity and although there was a gloom that came evident when looking far into the distance the whole scene looked incredibly clear to me - all while I knew that there was a lot more to this place, a lot more to discover than what you could capture in a single glance. Another aspect that made this place different from our own was that there was some sort of magic dust floating in mid air and gathering up in shiny blue lumps.
Apart from the visible changes there were audible changes too - for instance I noticed how the air sparkled - acoustically!
The greatest difference and also the most difficult one to describe, however, was that it just felt different. Apart from my obvious feeling of sheer amazement I felt sensations that cannot possibly be expressed by any words in any language familiar to me.
All in all I can only say that with this one step I must have discovered an entire world to explore!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I could write on but I find it far more interesting to give you the opportunity to think of what the explorer could probably have encountered next. So start to go on your own exploration, zoom in to this picure and find your hints to how the story could go on in your way. There's plenty to discover! And when you have found something, please don't hesitate to tell me about it in the comments! I'll be interested

This photomanipulation consists of only my own stock, no external resources were used. There are however works of two of my friends involved: The sculpture with the huge gaping mouth has been sculpted by my friend Ernestas Kedavicius and the sculpture behind it and also (very small) below it next to the candle was sculpted by Brianoneofmillions . It's all my photography.

This picture has a similar setting to my previous submission yaensart.deviantart.com/art/Pr… "Preserve or Posess" but is done in a completely different medium.

Great work! I love the details you put in this, and the sculpted heads are wonderfully done. I wonder what's that thing inside the gaping mouth, tho. Looks kinda like a some kind of altar.

Thank you! The head was my main inspiration for this work. I imagined what kind of world this would fit in and decided to create a photomanipulation based on these thoughts. And yes, an altar that's exactly what I have thought of when putting it in here so I'm glad that this message got delivered so well The large black stone was hand-sculpted by me just like the sculpture on the far right, facing left. I thought of what lays next to the candle as sacrifices.

I really like the effect that so many paths give. I got myself looking at it and thinking from each one I would go.
My favorite part it's the sky and the mountain that's on the background. I just love the atmosphere it brings to the work.
The piece does connect really good with the paragraph you wrote.
The only thing that I would like to see it's the explorer. Well, I would like to see him bigger.

Thanks for this detailed comment! I'm glad you pointed out the paths since I see it as an affirmation of my objective which was to create the desire to roam along those pathways.
The mountain, that you mentioned, is located in Croatia, Paklenica national park. It was stunning seeing it in reality The atmospheric fogginess was added by me though.

I can definitely see where you're coming from, saying that the explorer himself should be bigger. With that in mind I could have put him into a different place of this piece but I wanted to make visible that he just arrived through a portal from another world so I put him where he stands now ^^ Him being as small as he is also made it quite easy to paintΒ  details like his beard, hat, coat.

Thanks again for your comment, it's highly appreciated!
