Matt suffers from some more or less mild case of social anxiety. It’s not bad enough to make him unable to function properly in society, but it influences his general lifestyle and makes some things more difficult than they suppose to be. But he's working on it, he doesn't treat it like something tragic or serious, just a bunch of annoying thoughts and habits which he tries to get rid of. He would probably even laugh about it if he had a better sense of humor. Despite all of that he doesn’t lack eloquence, he knows how to express himself with words just fine and cleverly, if only not that ridiculous nervousness making him awkward at times.

Matt happens to be moody and he can’t really help that. Some days are simply better than others. He lets those moods influence his choices and behavior though and he doesn’t like being called out for that. He never managed to develop an efficient way of expressing his unhappiness without feeling guilty about it, yet he still happens to feel upset and frustrated just like anyone else, if not more. So his way of dealing with those feelings is usually by passive aggression, leaving speaking up his mind only for the moments when he's directly asked to or when things get completely out of control. Otherwise he tries to keep his anger low what has a great potential to explode and end up nasty.

Overall Matt doesn’t have any mean intentions nor feelings toward strangers, everyone starts for him on the same casually positive level so long as he doesn’t have a reason to feel otherwise (be it by the bad first impression or some overheard rumors).

Matt puts a lot of effort in doing things accordingly to his high expectations. He may not be passionate about the Syndicate jobs, but it doesn't mean he can half-ass them. Organized and calculating, he doesn't like improvisation.
