I had an disappointingly unproductive week which resulted in slow progress with commissions, which I am quite embarrassed about. To help get myself get back into the groove I decided to work on some personal art, so I went ahead and finished coloring this

I am quite disappointed with how this turned out, though =/ The colors are not how I wanted them as I probably chose my palette badly, and I'm just... uuuuurgh. But whatever, I'm done with this and I don't want to work on it anymore!

Ever since I did this picture of Yari's past:

..I've been wanting to do one of Meiles', but never got around to it. 'Till now, that is!

Actually I've been putting it off because I wanted to properly introduce his brother Muk'tal in the storyline itself, but seeing as how I'm going slower than a snail's pace in getting that drawn out, who knows when he'll ever make an appearance! Besides, Theras doesn't come into the story until the WotLK period and I've already done pictures of him anyway. Muk'tal bro shows up in BC era.

So.. back story time!

Before the Darkspear Trolls joined the Horde, Meiles, who was then known as Mek'kis, lived and tutored under his older brother Muk'tal in the ways of the voodoo witch doctor.

When their tribe joined the Horde, Mek'kis was very taken with Thrall and was happy to embrace the ways of the Horde. However, Muk'tal was outraged that his style of voodoo as well as cannibalism were not to be allowed, and refused to cooperate. Eventually he got into a huge fight with an orc, who basically kicked his skinny ass and pulled out one of his tusks right from the canal as his trophy (OOOOOUCH).

Muk'tal decided to leave the tribe and take his brother with him, but Mek'kis couldn't find it in his heart to go along, as he wanted this new life with the Horde. So Muk'tal disowned him as his brother and went off to live a hermit's life in Stranglethorn vale as the rest of his tribe joined the exodus of the Horde to Kalimdor.

Muk'tal was the one who named Mek'kis when he was born, and upon disowning him, took his name back. Mek'kis, noticing that the Warchief had a very un-orcish name (thought not understanding fully why), decided to change his named to Meiles, something a troll would not be normally named, to mark the new era. However, most of the Darkspears (especially the elders) still refer to him with his old name.

Despite this, Meiles still often comes down to Stranglethorn Vale to visit with Muk'tal, who welcomes him in anyway and asks him to tell him "dem stupid stories o' yer stupid horde."

Though he refuses to join the Horde, Muk'tal is never turned away at Grom'gol Base Camp, and would sometimes send Meiles small items through the couriers who are headed to Durotar. Usually some small charms, or notes on potion recipes or witch doctor studies.

And yessss, Meiles' hair used to be nice and straight! And not so much highlights, which are actually hairs that are going white And the reason he wears that braided hairstyle now is in memory of his brother (even if Muk'tal's hair is much more awesome). And now his hair is in braids so much that his hair is a bit wavy when he lets it down

I have so much more to say about this, but I realize that I have already rambled enough, so maybe I'll save it for another drawing later, hehehe!
