Description *the title should be nÊn - which means water, but dA doesn't allow special characters in the title...

It was meant to be a simple drawing, waist-up only, to try out Canson Illustration paper... But it turned out more "decorative" XD

Uhh, the water gave me some trouble, I have no experience at drawing/painting water >.> And I was stupid enough to start from the front, before I even found out how to use the blue colors I have to make it look somewhat decent...
But I had fun with the framing decoration =3

Her body proportions are all off, I know XP I noticed the mistakes after coloring the character...

This is really beautiful! I love how you've coloured the gold and gems. Wonderful.

Thank you!
Hm, the gold and the gems were the most fun to color actually

As for water - I left white spaces (added very little white paint later). For that gold decoration I left some white spaces, but then accented it with white paint - so it's mostly paint And the highlights on the gems are done entirely with the paint

i was wondering that because countless tutorials talk about how they all layer their colors and then use white ink or gellpens to highlight

...i just want to figure out highlighting!!

ah, you can also use the blander marker to make some areas lighter!

Hm, I'm quite new to marker art (and I need to learn a lot myself), so I can't claim to know the best way... But in my opinion it's best to leave white/uncolored space where you want the highlights to be the strongest, your picture will look more natural - of course it's easier for bigger areas. For small details/dots/thin lines it's just fine to use white paint/ink/gellpen. It all depends on what you want to color. Sometimes leaving some white spot will be enough, some other time you can accent it with white paint/whatever. Sometimes you may decite only white paint will make it work (like I did it with the gems).
It's good to remember not to overdo with highlights tho Just experiment a little. Good luck!
