Description For *Paranoid--Panda 's contest .

Round 1
Round 2

This is the final round, round three. Yes. So, for this round, I had to create a character for the species. I thought that the guy who saw the "gods" would be a nice character to create, and so I did. Not much to say about that.

------------------------------

Name: Again, due to the language of the Pez, to type what his name is would just be incredibly silly. We can just call him Vuan for now.

Age: During this moment, he is approximately 37 years old. This is less than half the life-span of an average Pez and this is also around the time of his death. He died fairly young due to this moment, yes.

Gender: Pez don't have genders, but I'm going to be referring to Vuan with masculine, uh, words... to make it easier. Like how I'm going to be calling him Vuan instead of two flicks with the left antennae while circling the right with seven green and blue lights blinking four times on the left flap.

History: Vuan was born into the Vanit tribe and was raised by his parents along with three other siblings. He lived a fairly average life among the Pez, though, he had always been a fairly excellent swimmer.
Around the age of 18, however, one of his two younger siblings had gone missing after venturing too close to lower pressures and was likely killed by predators. Three years after that, one of his parents was killed during a hunting accident. Although death is fairly common in the deep, the rest of the tribe still mourned the loses along with the family.
Life continued and the age had come when both he and the sibling he was born with could move into their own homes whenever they wanted. It was then that the other of his younger siblings was killed from food poisoning. Both he and his sibling then decided to stay behind with their remaining parent to keep them company.
Soon after, the parent had been struck by an illness and required the attention of the children for quite some time. Vuan began to wonder if the one he came into the world with would be the only one remaining. At the age of 29, after years of battle the illness, the parent had finally lost.
Vuan and his sibling then put a lot of attention into keeping each other safe. Neither wanted to be the last one remaining.
Vuan had always been fearful of his gods. He had thought that in every death, it was the gods way of telling him that he wasn't fearful enough. He had come to blame himself for not showing enough fear. Then he had begun to never look for what was above him as a sign to the gods that he was too afraid to even face them.
At the age of 37 while he, his sibling, and other members of the tribe were collecting rocks to later scrape the food off of, there was an earthquake, causing boulders from nearby cliffs to fall. Vuan's sibling and the others had been unable to escape the boulder's and were crushed.

Moment: For the first time in those eight years, Vuan looked up. He was through questioning why the gods didn't believe him to be fearful. He accepted that he wasn't afraid and challenged the gods for he had nothing left to lose other than himself.
Above, he saw a light moved and followed it, determined to chase down any fears. The light had disappeared, but more took its place before him. He then followed each light further and further towards the light above. As he went, it became brighter and he could feel his body did not agree, but he pressed on.
Then, he finally reached the ice. He saw light penetrating through a massive sheet, spread all across the ocean. It was white and he was blinded briefly, but as his eyes adjusted, he saw shadows in the light. In the light they had come to fear, there were shadows and he was comforted by this. The shadows moved and Vuan believed them to be the gods.
He had begun to think. The gods didn't want him to fear them, they wanted him to accept them and to find them. He began to believe that they wanted him to warn the others of their false view.
Around him, there were shadows, and he followed them back into the darkness. They lead him to a Pez from his tribe and he told them of this event. The Pez believed him and returned him to his home. Soon after, Vuan had died due to the exposure to such low pressures.

Future: Word quickly spread of Vuan's tale and the Vanit tribe had come to accept his view of the gods. The tribe then began to try to spread their views to other tribes. Sometimes they succeeded, sometimes they failed. Wars had been fought between the tribes that accepted and those that didn't.
Those that agree have developed traditions and customs to honor their gods and sometimes also in honor of Vuan. To them, he had become a prophet.
Those that didn't agree had continued as they always have, but have become more bitter to any hopeful thoughts and those who spread them.
As of today, the amount of tribes that agree are equal to those that don't. The conflict continues.

------------------------------

I guess that's all I really have to say about that.
Why do I keep making these images so big.

Oh gosh, I realized that this looks like one of my own ideas of Europan life.

Ah, yeah. I got a lot of inspiration for this species from Europa.

You told me so loooooong ago. And I think I know what those certain (humanoid) creatures should be. They should be partially amphibious. They can live outside of water and in land.

The Europa aliens? I don't know if they'd be able to live on land if they can't even get to it. The entire planet is completely covered in ice.

Hmm. So the only person in the whole race who came remotely close to bringing about a new age of enlightenment for his people in a vaguely philosophical way DIDN'T get martyred? That's kind of a relief, personally. I like tales of prophets who presumably die or old age or "naturally" instead of, say, getting crucified upside-down. And it's kind of interesting how the civil war raging between these people seem to be divided into the camps of "hope" and "fear".

Yeah, that's always nice. But it's also true that he didn't get a chance to be crucified or anything like that because he died soon after spreading the word anyway. Not sure if he would have been though.

Hey, there's no wood or anything 40,000 leagues under THAT sea, eh?

Yeah, there isn't. But hey, they're aliens, they probably have other means.
