History
He is a hakutaku, and a good one at that. The hakutaku are creatures that can predict the future of the person asking, good and bad and even Isshin is not exempted to that ability. What set him aside though, was his penchant for cruelty. He shook Heaven and Earth with his lusty and often cruel pursuits. He was given a lot of chances to change, but he did not heed his elders' words and was punished. Isshin is sent to Earth to make him realize that life isn't just something you treat as an object or a plaything. It took him a long time to realize that, and he fell in love with a tree sprite. He had a good time with her, and he is considering to bring her with him once his exile is fulfilled.

A series of unfortunate things happened, beginning with the drunken request of the nymph. She pestered and wheedled about what her demise would be. She had asked Isshin time and time again, and the hakutaku's patience is wearing thin. He gave in to her request, and due to the extent and gravity of the prediction, it maimed Isshin. His left horn shattered from the terrible wish;and his power to predict a pleasant future is nullified; a horrifying penalty for messing too much with the future. The rippling force of the lifethread bled the red out of his left eye, turning it white. He was out for god knows how long, and someone actually took pains to call an onmyouji to patch up his horn. Isshin wanted to forget, so he roamed the land and decided to open up shop in the remote village of Mizuyama. He opened up an *izakaya* since he noticed that no one is offering such service. So Isshin decided to be the first to do so.
