Description After making the new Micro base I knew I had to make a Mermaid version for it too. And I'm content with how the fin turned out. I like it even better than the normal version with legs. I unfortunately forgot to add a little loop to the top of the head so I could use it as a phone charm.
The colors fot this little one were inspired by the first Lalaloopsy Mermaid, Coral.

Again, my ring is just there so you have an idea about the size of this tiny one.

but... when I do them they're so messy! I need more practice I think :3

Maybe part of the reason why it looks so neat is that I used normal yarn for the hair and only one strand of that yarn (it's 4ply yarn) to crochet the fringe. Plus I glued it on instead of sewing (craft glue).

Wow! I'm incredibly impressed that you were able to make a doll this tiny. That seems like such delicate work! And she even has a yarn wig! That's pretty incredible.

Thank you! I was curious on how small I could go and that's the result. I like her more than the Micro base with legs. I think the little fin fit's this size best.

I love her!!Β Β That's a great idea to twist the yarn around her for her bikini. I think I like the fins more than the legs too.(Although the legs were adorable)

Yuki87 In reply to SJFan97 [2013-10-16 10:19:50 +0000 UTC]

Yay thankies.

I think the fin looks better than legs too. However I did it, but I think the fin is in good proportion to the body.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

SJFan97 In reply to Yuki87 [2013-10-16 23:02:08 +0000 UTC]

I agree! The proportion of the fins are really good.Β Β

Oh, did you not write down a pattern?Β

Yes yes, I wrote them down, but I'm astonished that they work so well for me.

Thank you
I wrapped yarn around a small piece of cupboard, crocheted along one side, cut the opposite side and glued it on along the crocheted line.

She is so small! Very cute! (Personally, I do not like crocheting very small things, I get frustrated too easily.)

Yuki87 In reply to Npantz22 [2013-10-16 10:21:36 +0000 UTC]

Aw thanks! I like making small dolls, maybe not as small as this one but better than large dolls.

I'm halfway done with Cherry Crisp Crust and she looks so small compared to Holly.

Npantz22 In reply to Yuki87 [2013-10-16 11:06:00 +0000 UTC]

I think it has to do with the yarn. That emoticon made me laugh!

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Yuki87 In reply to Npantz22 [2013-10-17 07:53:17 +0000 UTC]

Hmhm, think so too. Even though I already used the thickest yarn I have. Now I'm curious how small I could have gone if I had used the yarn for my Mini/Medium dolls.
Yeah, they have cute emotes here.

Npantz22 In reply to Yuki87 [2013-10-17 21:34:30 +0000 UTC]

How does my stitch count compare to your stitch count?
It's probably very different, because I can change the size just by using a smaller hook and more tension. I did it once and couldn't believe how much smaller the head was!

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Yuki87 In reply to Npantz22 [2013-10-18 07:39:52 +0000 UTC]

The stitches are totally alright for the body. I haven't finished the arms and made the legs, so I can't say much to them. I just missed sometime that I should crochet in the backloop only

I...ehm...only have one hook. It's 3mm. But I use different yarn, babyyarn for your Mini/Medium dolls and normal acrylic for all the others. That makes for a big difference.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Npantz22 In reply to Yuki87 [2013-10-18 10:48:55 +0000 UTC]

Lol! I have a lot of hooks, but for some reason I like 2.75 and 3.25 mm.

Do you like the back loop crochet? I've never done it for an entire doll. It does give it a special look though.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Yuki87 In reply to Npantz22 [2013-10-19 08:19:01 +0000 UTC]

I ordered several hooks, but they seem to be stuck somewhere in the shipping process *sigh*

I crocheted a bag for my heat bottle in BLO, it looks nice though but for dolls I'm not so sure. I also had to do it for a striped shirt for a doll and it made the rows longer so the body looked a tiny bit off shape.

Npantz22 In reply to Yuki87 [2013-10-23 10:59:41 +0000 UTC]
