This hat from the "Inspired by Steam" collection is designed to support the idea of steampunk for daily usage.I like when virtual things or characters from books become true in real life.
Materials used: genuine leather, copper plates, copper wire, painted aluminum plates, gears, rivets, temperature gauge.
Cotton surface is naturally aged under the Sun influence.
Update: I've started next hat decorating, and creating tutorial in parallel. Related details are in "Tutorials" gallery and my Journal entries.

It was 2yrs ago, purchased in some local store. I'd recommend to google for "military hat" or "platoon hat", there are plenty of same shape online.

i have a friend who would go spastic with joy if he had a hat like this. Β i checked ebay and couldn't find any of your incredible hats. Β if you would, may we dialogue about possibly having you create a hat for my friend? Β he is part of a large group of people who cosplay in his city, and i imagine if he were sporting one of your derbys it might result in some new customers for you! Β this hat is incredible!

It's big surprise to suddenly notice it in a DD, that makes me happy!
Making steampunk things is just a hobby, but in a favor of your all impressions and good words I decided to create few more hats.
During that process I'll create some kind of photo tutorial, and share it here.
I love to work with leather and metal, and happy to share experience as well.

It is possible. But actually working things are hard to design to be less fragile for daily wearing.
