Was mostly meh on Kylo to be honest. He was more or less just a bratty tantrum throwing emo who was a Vader fanboy. Wasn't menacing in the very least, lightsaber was....dumb looking. Mask was a rip off Revan, and *spoilers* How does one lose to a stormtrooper reject and a girl without any force training? I don't care if you took a shot to the side, you don't force throw Rey into a tree and then forget to do that again and lose in a lightsaber fight.other stuff

i don't see all the hate for kylo ren...i mean yeah he was a bit of an emo that whined a bit...but you gotta remember...he's probably been trained horribly by the guy he calls master...so maybe next movie he'll have been trained a better and thus made epic

To be honest, I never saw the whole "Emo" angle. I mean yeah the man's conflicted and talks about feeling torn apart but as far as acting emo is concerned, he really isn't one.
That and I never got that he whined or at least, I never felt he was whining like Anakin from the PT.

I think everyone, including me, wanted to see at least one awesome or at least decent lightwaber fight with modern CGI. Instead, we got that shit.

And I think you will get that in later movies, the lightsaber duel in TFA was definitely not as acrobatic or fast paced... but it didn't need to be.
It was grounded, gritty and brutal. This was clearly taking place during a time period when the Jedi styles of old were all but forgotten and since Luke was quite the pacifist, I have a feeling that lightsaber training came at the very end and not at the beginning.
Overall, I think the saber duel in TFA did what it needed to. It wasn't meant to be a super flashy spectacle with lightsabers swinging all over the place and lasers going off all around but rather, the spectacle was just from the emotion and conflict present in the scene.

I didn't say that the duel had to look over the top with many lazers and lens flares and all that stuff.
I freaking love to see good fight choreographies. I feel like a movie can't be good if the fight choreographies aren't good. I can't enjoy shit like two super muscular guys punching each other and getting bloody and all that, like The Expendables. I keep rewatching scenes from Ip Man, because the fight scenes in those movies are some of the best I've ever seen.
I was hoping this movie would bring us awesome fights, not necessarily with lightsabers but it didn't and I was really disappointed. Other than that, I think the movie was mostly re-introducing old characters and tried make us nostalgic by showing us stuff from previous movies, like the line "I've got a bad feeling about this", during which everyone in the cinema laughed, so I believe that, as you said, there will be more action in the future movies.

Kylo Ren was da man. It's always been a problem in Star Wars that people who can use the force so adeptly, decide to fight with lightsabers. You can say that about any force-user, why don't they just force push them against a wall instead of fighting?

He got shot with a weapon that sends people (fatally) flying. He was probably using the force to literally hold himself together; there'd be broken bones AT LEAST.

galen marek was more menacing...doesnt make his character good. kylo ren was a breath of fresh air who had real personality and an actor who has talent...unlike hayden
