How about a kitsune?
In Japanese mythology foxes have the power to shapeshift. And usually they are white vixen.
So... how about a beautiful girl transforming into a nine-tailed white fox and back?
Or how about the ogre in "Puss in the boots?" Puss tricked the ogre into turning himself into a tiny mouse.
There's also stories of berserkers, at the height of their rage, turning into bears.
