Awesome! I think this is very beautiful, because it is so simple yet elegant. With small details like the design of the man's boots, arm-protectors and the braid in his hair you make it feel complete and realistic! The fairy is just plain cute ^^

The strong, stoic, silent, and lone warrior meets a perky, talkative, bouncy fairy. I imagine their first conversation would be this.

Warrior: "Quit following me."
Fairy: "Following? Me? I'm not following. You just happen to be going in the same direction I'm going. Where are you going exactly?"
Warrior: "Shut up."
Fairy: "Awwww. Who's a grumpy-puss? Who's a wittle wonely gwumpy-puss?"
Warrior: "Stop that."
Fairy: "Just tell me. Tell me tell me tell me tell me tell me tell me tell me!"
Warrior: "I will squish you like a bug."
Fairy: "Still a wittle gwumpy-puss aren't you? Fine. I'll be quiet."
-there's silence for about thirty seconds-
Fairy: "So who are you exactly?"
Warrior: "Gah!" -covers his ears-

I imagine their friendship will kick in after the fairy's proved her usefulness after some quest of sorts.
