Cpt. Janieen Malkaht was forced to go on vacation after accumulating over a hundred days of unused leave. She is suppose to be relaxing and enjoying herself but all she is worried about what is going on in her absence. Being away from her job is also causing her to start thinking uncomfortable things about her life , in particular she is starting to question it having never started a family for the sake of her mediocre carrier commanding an admittedly "second rate" unit was really worth it. She thinks that trying to change course at her age would be an admission of defeat in the face of her independent ideals.

No matter what she has tried so far on this trip nothing has been all that amusing and she hates feeling like she's wasting time. She has been on vacation for ten days and has forty more to go. She wishes this didn't feel like a burden and wants to prove to herself that she has an identity outside of her job.

In case you haven't seen her in In previous drawings Janieen is a sugar glider. The drink I front of her that she seems to be ignoring is made of eucalyptus sap and has a eucalyptus branch and flowers as a garnish. The flower she is wearing is also a type of eucalyptus bloom that is pollinated by sugar gliders. I like the idea of a bar that sells sap and nectar for the many sap and nectar feeding marsupials in found in Australia. I think I'll do a few more in this theme.
