For almost all of these, I start with an unusual idea for an image. But for this one, I started with a usual idea and made it unusual. The first sketch was just a person sliding down a hill - then I added a big dust trail behind them - then I flipped them to the underside of the hill - then I made them walk instead of slide - then I changed the dust cloud to many dust clouds - then I made them into a cube - and then I made them glow.

And this is exactly how you draw something without any clue of what you've just drawn.
