I'm doing the tutorials, but things are different in my Chaotica.
The node editor is different.
I have the Chaotica_x64 1.5.3.
I was told to have Chaotica 38 bit
My laptop is Windows 7 Β 64 bit.

Well, I have Windows 8 64 bit and I am usingΒ chaotica_x64 v1.1.1.
It's recommend that you download 64bit (x64) version if your Operating System is 64 bit like in your case, you have Windows 7 64 bit so you should use 64 bit version.
Let me download your version and see how that goes...
And also it's 32 bit (x86), not 38 bit, don't worry and don't listen to everyone out there...
