think about the everday life out there on the streets with people walking around, passing each other. you never talk to them, you never know anything about them. they just look like mindless machines walking around. you don't even know where they are heading. everybody is lost in this own thoughts somehow.Now just image what it would be like, if everbody had sign in front of him that tells you exactly what he's thinking at that time...
maybe suddenly all strangers become living persons again.

this will become my first huge project, involving several different people, lots of effort and a lot of time. the name will be something like "voices of the street" or maybe something with a deeper meaning. the image you're just looking at will be the cover picture.
my secret hope is that when the series is completed i might even be able to present them in a local art gallery.

there was this sci-fi short story in which in the future people had monitors on their foreheads. and there you could see some vague and short expression in words of what was on their minds. it's a nice idea but at the end of the story i think something apocalyptic happened...
but to the point..i like this image...i also notice people's faces in the bus, on the streets, in school...and sometimes they talk...i noticed you have this thing with signs in your pictures and you manage it well. i think this one is very good, although i'm cannot say that this model of yours is very good.
i need some sleep so i would sort words more properly..in my head..

You are so right about how we walk by people each day and all they are to us are strangers. the world is so full of people we can't even begin to imagine and we ourselves only known a small handful of them

i think the "old" look is very cool and nicely done, it adds something interesting visually, but isnt really necessary to the concept.

hehe, very awesome concept. where in germany do you live? specifically, is it very cold there much, becasue i have a theory that the warmr the climate, the friendlier the ppl are. I go visit friends down south, and I can strike up a conversation with any guy on the street corner, i go north to boston or somewhere, and I'm lucky if i can get eye contact with people walking by. and like PainisBeautiful said, down Bermuda way ppl's are quite nice.
so yeah, if there was just some way to get ppl to notice each other, open up abit, it would be nice.
and if i ever come to germany, can I model for you, It would totally rock if i could be in pictures by someone as brilliant as you.

hi there! basically it's the warmest part of germany (Karlsruhe). I think mostly the society and the media are responsible about the peoples behavior on the streets. Though i am surrounded be people i feel alone most of the time. and thank you so much for offering yourself as a model, i really do need more people i can take pictures of for training that portrait thing. cheers back!

Es erinnert mich etwas an die werbung von MTV wo das mΓ€dchen im zug auf einmal zur puppe wird.
Naja, ich finde es irgend wie interesant das ein Mann das schild hebt. Hilfe - fΓΌr was? Hat er was verbrochen? Braucht er psychische hilfe? Das bild lΓ€sst einen nach denken. Ich mag das. Find ich richtig gut.

The only problem with your theory about the sings and the subsequent sense of community and lack of strange-ness is that it leaves little room for objective thought. Personally, I think I would be dulled my the sings to the point where they wouldn't matter anymore. Knowing what someone is thinking doesn't necessarily entail that he is not a stranger.

I agree with this so thoroughly - I actually had an idea for a picture almost exactly like this haha, but you did it better then I probably would have.
Either way, excellent shot - perfect compostion and lighting, and the black and white is perfect for the mood. +fav definitely
