As an autistic person myself I’d love to agree and jump on the autistic entranta headcanon- HOWEVER given the direction they’re taking with her character as more of a moralless scientist (which is also the way her character worked in the original show) I’d personally rather people didn’t. Like, I know people think she’ll be redeemed but given hints in the earlier part of the season and how she was in the original show I’m not so sure.
theres just too many autistic coded villains. We need more autistic coded heros.

Oh that's valid!! I'm also autistic so I get u, I haven't interacted much with the she-ra fandom yet (my friends and I just finished it yesterday) so I wasn't sure how ppl felt about it, I jumped on board with my friends' general consensus for that headcanon (we're All Autistic in this household). I'll def be mindful of that in the future though!!

Most people like that paticular headcanon- but that’s kind of one of my problems with it is that it’s so widely accepted without the criticism of the fact that her character is going down the path of becoming a major villain who has already purposely done something intended to more or less end the world just to kind of see if she could.
Now im not saying that there’s no autistic people who’ve committed atrocities (I mean just look at Chris chan for gods sake) but I just think it’s important to be mindful of associating minority identities with villain characters- especially if people are *only* doing it with villain characters. I mean I’m still of the belief that if you’re of that minority identity then go hog wild but- just kind of given how the majority of society would still love to villainize autistic people or people with other mental illnesses, I find it in our best interest to direct such attention away from villain characters. Personally, both for different reasons, I would say both Bow and Mermista could be considered high functioning autistic
anyways I’m rambling- that’s just my two cents. Or twenty cents. Idk I typed a lot. I just have a lot of feelings regarding this subject.

Yeah, I get what you're saying totally! I think also my friends and I interpreted her more as chaotic neutral than a villain, which probably influenced things. Also absolutely Bow and Mermista are autistic and badass heroes.
Don't worry about rambling at all! Ig being frustrated with how a fandom treats a character Poorly (tfw your fav undertale character is chara, who is Always Misgendered and Probably Another Boring Demon Take, As Usual) and I'm always willing to listen to someone's complaints abt ableism/homo/transphobia/racism/etc. Even if I'm autistic myself it's good to hear others' stances on stuff as well!! Makes me feel like, I have a little bit of a bigger picture I guess? on how different people can interpret things differently, like how a headcanon for one character can be good for someone but bad for another. I think I'm the one rambling now gejiaogje;arfea

Good to hear! And yeah currently I’d say she’s a Chaotic Neutral- However that still to me indicates she’s not necessarily going to continue to be a fantastic person in the show and will likely develop into a ‘moralless scientist’ and it’s probably for the best that we as the autistic community discourage able-people from headcanoning villain characters with ambiguous to bad morals as autistic. Just not very good for our cause.
hell I’d even probably throw Sea Hawk on the list of possible Autistic characters.

Mermista and Sea Hawk are on the opposite ends of the High functioning autism traits scale (ie, over thinking versus zero impulse control)
Mermista: Sea Hawk
Sea Hawk: Hello fair-
Mermista; did you set your ship on fire- again?
Sea Hawk: ... Perhaps
Mermista: Why
Sea Hawk: I thought the water would counter act the fire
Mermista: ... Did it?
Sea Hawk: ... no.
