Finest Hour - Card Number 34: Elegant Mirror“Aww, she is probably too scared to do anything. Twi, what does a cockatrice look like? Sounds like a strange mix, like Gummy in my chicken costume.”
Wait, what? What was Pinkie Pie about to do? Surely she would not…
“Get over here, mister Cockatrice. I want to take a good look at you!”
Catastrophe! As one they all tried to make her stop.
“No, Pinkie, don’t do it.”
“She just never listens.”
“Why would she…?”
“This is the. Worst. Possible. Idea!”
Twilight opened an eye to get a peek at what was about to happen. It was as bad as she had feared. Pinkie Pie was standing in front of the cockatrice, seemingly having a staring contest with it, as her hind legs slowly turned to stone. While laughing.
“Whee, this tickles.”
Then Pinkie Pie put her hand behind her back, and from seemingly nowhere she pulled out a mirror bigger than herself, and put it between her and the cockatrice. The cockatrice, having never seen a mirror before, did what it did to everything it met: Stared at it to turn it into stone. In this case, however, the strategy backfired.
