Hi hi hi! Here I am from and I'll be giving you the best critique that I can manage today! Here's hoping that this will be helpful to you!Β
Before I begin, I have to say that this is a very sweet gesture, and I'm sure your friend will be very happy. Regardless of what I have to say about the piece itself, good and bad, you should know that you've done something wonderful for your friend, and that in that regard, you've done what you set out to do and more. I can feel your sincerity in your comments. So don't take anything I say after this as my critiquing your intentions or anything like that. I'm just talking about the art.Β
First, I'll start with the good, as I often do. I like the color palette quite a lot. A soft, pastel set of varied pinks always makes for a nice color palette. It's a very gentle palette with a sort of soft femininity to it, that creates an atmosphere of a generally lovely person, one that you could even look up to. Judging by the angel wing hairclips, I assume this is what was intended of the design, so that's a very good thing indeed. The contrasting gradient cyan is a tiny bit too vibrant at the bottom, taking some attention away from the form, but at the top it works very well to make Alita stand out. The lips and eyes are very nicely detailed, and I love the use of form-boosting lines across the clothes to give a stronger feeling of 3D. The colors used in the hair as well make it have a lot of life, possibly more life than the rest of the drawing! Your color choices in general are the shining point of this picture, really bringing it a lot of character and life.Β
As for critiques, I only really have a few. Firstly, I want to know what material the buttons and gold accents are made from. They're given the same shading as everything else, so I assume fabric? However, from the color I would guess they are supposed to be metal/metallic. Metal and metallic things generally have some unique properties that make them very, very hard to color without reference, so if your intent was for them to be shiny metal, well, I can understand why things might not have gone that way. I'd recommend looking up references for gold buttons and trying to get a feel for how metal reflects things around it. The bounce light is very unique in metal and once you get the hang of it, it'll definitely stand out in a good way.Β
All in all, this is a wonderful piece, and you should be proud! Just keep on with the details and you'll surely flourish. Keep up the good work!Β

The colouring on the hair is amazing and I love how the face looks, especially her eyes.
