I know that Snake and Bomberman were both in the fighting game, TV Mix Fighters Party that was on both the Gamecube and the PS2. So this could be set before they faced eachother.

I kinda knew about it because people had brought up the game years ago when Brawl was in development, and this was to validate why Bomberman should be in Brawl. I also found out about Wario Blast, too considering that also had Bomberman in it, too.

Gotta love the logic of the bomb blast in Bomberman's games. They work exactly like Independence Day's alien main weapon, it will scorch anything on its pat but if you happen to step into a perpendicular recess to the blast (like say, a broom closet) it will pass you by.
