Story: (Simon's POV)
1, 2, 3, 4... --
Simon counted the flying changes up to 15 and brought Spieg back to a work canter. The gelding complied, listening attentively to his rider and Simon rewarded him with a pat before halting at the fence where Lisa stood. He pulled up by the fence and took the water bottle she offered - it was a hot day; the kind that required a copious intake of water.
,,He looks balanced. I think you could ask him to give a bit more, though - really make him jump through."
Simon sent his groom an annoyed look.
,,Don't tell me how to ride my horse." he sneered at her. It seemed to surprise her a little - in any case she quickly tried to smoothe things out:
,,Just saying you usually aren't someone to be so cautious--"
,,This is warm-up. I'm not gonna use all his energy here." he said, biting off the words as if they bothered him. He gave back the water bottle and nudged the horse forward once more without further commentary. Urgh, the gall of this girl.. how dare she offer her 'advice' on this? It wasn't as if she could read Spieg's thoughts the way he felt he could from up here. Not to mention it was pointless to over-excert a horse on the warmup - especially one at Spieg's mature age. That was just a shortcut to injuries. Kaira would never have resorted to such comments without being asked for them, and he was once again reminded that he missed having her around as his groom.

He let his gaze sweep over the warm-up ring at the other contestants as he gave his horse a breather. All of them top-tuned and ready to dazzle; balanced and harmonic as they danced across the arena.
And then there was that guy.
Damon Voinovich of Royal Pirate Stables.
Simon remembered both rider and horse clearly from the RDHS Cup earlier this year. They had danced to a 2nd place just behind Simon himself and Sagadir, which had spurred a conversation after the pirze giving - Damon promising to send his spies and know where Simon went next. Simon had been cocky and replied with his usual bravado; not suspecting Damon had actually meant it. How horribly, horribly wrong he had been about that...
Now he watched them from a little ways' off as they were doing their warmup routine. With start number 106 Damon would enter the ring right after Simon... which would be soon. Just a few minutes left before being called forth. Perhaps it would be wise to polish the tempi changes one last time --

...so essentially, back when we both signed up for the AUSE, we noticed that Swan and Spieg look... quite similar. Two reds with a left hind sock and a lil face marking :'D And their riders... two different flavours of posh, blond dudes who love their bling |D Put them together and they make an excellent, if accidental, pas de deux; except it looks as if they just used different instagram filters, lmao. Damon and Swan both being a more vibrant reddish hue, and Simon and Spieg with upped gain and contrast

Cursey made the excellent suggestion that we could make a 'mirror' image for the warm-up extra to really showcase their similarities - so here ya go; two rivals who might not be so different from each other after all x)
