Yup, we've been busy getting used to normality again XD In my case EXTREME GARDENING because the person I'm a full time carer for has decided that she wants to completely redo her garden.

After going to the animation panel at Minami, I don't envy you one bit XD I couldn't even do the walk cycle... granted I can't draw and just drew robots in the end but still!
Well so far I've completely covered the tiles with bark, potted 8 HUGE planters with flowers and still have 8 more to go, put up 6 out of 10 hanging baskets and had to rescue several cats because they don't know what the bark is, so they run out, panic, run onto the table then meow for help XD

I deliberately didn't go to the animation panel...I knew I'd probably be cackling in the back like a lunatic because the methods were silly or wrong or that I know better or something. It's a long ass process, but hey, I enjoy all of it, so I guess it's good in that sense
Walk cycles are something we hafta do regardless, and the bit I just animated is a run (even funner lol), Once you learn the two main positions in a walk, you fill in the rest to smooth it out. Did they just give you one of those charts showing 8 or so pictures of a basic walk cycle and want you to copy them?
And LOL! Silly cats...you'd think they'd want to check it out...not freak out! Do ya think you got lots more to do?

It was ok, but yeah we were basically given 14 odd steps and told to use it as a base for our walk cycle. The person running it failed to mention several things until about 20 minutes in, such as they have to all be on separate pages so pretty much everyone who knew nothing about animation had to start again which was 3/4 of the room, she then hadn't mentioned that they all had to be in the center of the page -_- So once again, 3/4 of the room, groaning and starting again. No wonder nobody finished. It was her first panel ever so I'll give her the benefit of the doubt, but it did feel like she kinda expected us all to know this already despite the fact that people go to said panels like that because they know little to nothing about it.
I guess I'm just not patient with that kinda stuff XD Photography, I can stand about for hours to get a good shot of a sunset, drawing... not so much. Writing is my thing X3
They're silly kitties XD The one white cat has embraced it and is now filthy because he's been digging in the plant pots and rolling in the bark.
Not much more now no, it's mostly planting the flowers in the pots and putting them where they're going to be now. Only bit I can see that'll be a bit annoying will be lifting the 50 liter bags of compost to fill the pots up, but I have a lil shovel to use until they're light enough to lift. I just hope it's not too sunny tomorrow otherwise I'm gonna bake, I don't get along with the sun XD

I'm so glad I didn't go...What's worse about what you just said is that unless you have a light box or use a window, they never would have flowed nicely anyway! You can animate on a whim like that, but the lines always look really wobbly and certain details always change (like the feet shape and the eyes). Also, she was wrong when she "corrected you all". You CAN do them all on one page if you like, you just need to scan and arrange in a program to animate them (I did it in my first year! )
Like I said, I avoided that panel cause I knew I'd end up laughing too much, and it sounds like I was right from what you said. I've taught basic animation to kids who knew nothing (6-16 year olds), and the best way to go about is not with a boring walk cycle...I chose stop motion/puppet building personally, because it's simpler to learn, and you can put the principals of things such as walk cycles into the actual movement,Β and tediously doing each frame to make the film for the capture.
Well...it's sunny here, so it may be sunny near you Who knows, UK weather goes everywhere

EXTREME GARDENING!
That is what I did today. Had to replant several flowers because said white cat mentioned before dug a load of them up, we took one of her daughters rats to Pets at Home to be put up for adoption because she needs special care due to her very poor field of vision, her daughter was too scared to touch the other rat because of that one. Her name is Egg and she's up for adoption now, the lady who took her from us said she might adopt her because her rats going to die soon and she's taken a liking to her. We also had to get more compost and plant pots, we bought a strawberry plant and more hanging baskets, I drilled some holes and put some hangers up to hang the baskets on, moved shit about and done the planters on the balcony too. I fucking stink of compost XD
I know you can animate with them all on one piece of paper, I did a 2 week course on it and learn that much xD I think she just couldn't be bothered to do the whole editing bit so told us that it had to be in the center. My friend Claire 2.0 did animation at uni so she knew all this already and instead of doing the walk cycle did a Totoro burping / explosion, she didn't finish it so where it ended it looks like he's gonna blow up XD
I wish she'd done something other than a walk cycle, I find such things boring, it was the first thing they made us do in the short course to give us a 'taste' of animation, along with blinking. I couldn't hack it XD Which is why I didn't chase it because I can't draw anyway so I'd have to learn to draw whilst doing the course.
It was sunny today, tolerable weather which was ok. A little cold in the morning but quickly warmed up, not too hot so I wasn't sweating, but not too cold so I wasn't really cold, I was just in a t-shirt all day.
Me and Claireface are thinking about doing a skit next year at Minami, I've spent my evening writing up lyrics and recording a bad version of it XD We probably won't even use this as our skit, it's just one of my ideas that I'm throwing into the pot and I thought I'd record the lyrics to show how they fit in.

Cool! I keep saying "Yeah...I gotta do the masquerade one of these years" but it never comes...may try and come up with something with my sister for next year...will hafta see Guessing you have your cosplays planned? (I never do )
Jumping straight into walk cycles = good way to scare peeps away hahaha XD Glad Claire did something more interesting! Sounds way better! I could think of better ways to ease into it, but meh...I can't be assed
I miss gardening...living on the 15th floor of an apartment block is both nice and terrible in certain fields. As soon as I'm home from Uni, I know I'll be sorting the flowers and bushes out like I always do!

...cosplays? PLANNED? XD Awwah frag no we haven't even got a theme yet! We're just throwing ideas back and forth at the moment, THEN we'll come up with a cosplay. I think Claireface wants to do something with our human Portal Core cosplays, I have no idea X3 We don't plan anything in advance other than putting money aside for tickets!
I've always wanted to be in the masq but I don't have any confidence So if we do it it'll be because my friends have pushed me into it and I'll be all shaky, mix my words up and speak too quickly like I normally do.
I think it scared a good majority away XD I just ended up doodling because I knew I'd never get done in time so I didn't see the point.
I never really did gardening, the gardens my mum has had have always been in such a state that I've never bothered to go out there, same with this house it's such a wreck I can't be bothered. My carees garden wasn't in a great state either, but it was easier to do because her ground is all concrete, so once the bark was down that was the floor done, then it was just fill up the pots, plant the flowers and put them where she asked me to :3 And lifting compost of course XD Much lifting of compost.
I just realised earlier that in exactly 1 month from today (16th March) I'm going to be 23 o-o; Thats a scary thought... especially seeing as I seem to have already bought myself a present >w> It's latest delivery date is the 22nd of April, so it's totally ok.

The only reason I never have is because I don't have a cosplay I've wanted to masquerade with. Best thing if you think you'll be nervous or will talk too quickly...record the dialogue in advance and lipsync. A couple of the groups essentially did that already, and I've seen a few in the past do it too...it's all up to personal decision.
Doodling 4tw! A good majority of papers on my desk are doodles, so it's worth it XD
I turned 23 in february haha Join da club. I was sad because 22 was my favourite number, so I liked being 22

Yeah that's what we're thinking XD Because I've never been good in front of crowds so this won't be any different. We're thinking of a lip sync thing, depending on how much time we have once we've figured out what the heck we're gonna cosplay. Yeah we have to think of that bit first I guess XD
Yeah I can't doodle much XD So they were pretty much the same thing I always draw.
Well look on the bright side, you're the same age as Scott Pilgrim :3 And I will be too. And my cat turns six a few days later.

We vaguely know a skit we might do in the future (not even definite or planned), but it would probably be at expo or somewhere as it is more relatable to comics/tv. We are thinking about stuff we could do for next minami though XD I'd probably take the lipsync route personally...it means if you have to put on a voice (or in that aforementioned vaguely thought of skit, I'd be all the voices), you ain't gonna destroy it by blaring into a mic and hoping you're getting it right Works well for songs too...it can not always sync up with the music to everyone listening due to the way the sound travels when sung live.
I always like to joke I'm the same age as Sonic I used to play the games all the time, and the first one came out in 1991 :3

The way Minami works for me is both scary and fun as hell. It's fun because I get excited, but it's scary because I NEVER know what is going on in my friends head XD I don't know until about a week before it, then plans get spilled. So right now, she couldn't be thinking of ANYTHING. I think she wanted us to do a skit based on the fact that this'll be our 4th year going and we've yet to cosplay an actual anime character X3
XD Means I am too, twas born in the same year.
