Thanks for the fave, pal...
I did a wall of text in response to your journal...and erased it.
I agree that the people on the forum are egotistical jackasses most of the time.
But at least they actually can help, if you grovel appropriately.
That is an improvement over what you can get from DAZ and their 'tech support'/'customer service' people who have not one clue how their product actually works in conjunction with the operating system. And not every problem is "It must be your computer, because ours works fine." That's not a repair, that's a cop-out.
Gary

My pleasure man!
Regarding DAZ's forums - I've been banned so oh well. As I've said before, DAZ sure loves to take my money but can't bear to stand to hear that there might be trouble in Little China.
Frankly though, with the new management and the changes being made to the store and pricing, I'm finding myself spending more and more money at Rendo & RuntimeDNA than at DAZ lately.
But back to the forums: chohole, frank0314, and the fscking "dick" Richard Haseltine can all go blow me. Unlike them, my life does not revolve around a "forum".

LOL...
I'm about in the same boat. I haven't been banned from the forums because when I go there, I stay prostrate on the altar steps. I only go there when I am absolutely snowed by something, or I'm in trouble all the way to my ears.
As for buying anything from DAZ, I haven't, because they're too expensive--and frankly, I've had more trouble with products from there than I've had with the 'generic' Poser stuff from R'osity. Moreover, everyone I've dealt with at R'osity has been wonderful--with the possible exception of one person whose ego gets in the way of her common sense. Chuckle. Her loss. I spent $20 bucks with her. If she'd been a bit more responsive, that would have been $200 bucks. Like I said, her loss.
On the other hand, I ran into a little problem--my problem (dumb me) btw--with something from Rebel Mommy. I sent her a 'site mail' at R'osity, and she explained what I hadn't understood--and emailed the 16 individual images in her makeup resource. I thought my new version of Paint Shop Pro would handle .psd files--not. But she bent over backwards to help me out a problem of my own creation--for something I got from R'osity's Prime stuff.
To me, that's what customer service is all about: Never mind your customer has a rusted brain. You can help, so you do... with a smile!
Anyway. I'm not going to spend a cent with DAZ for the time being. They're all in love with Genesis and V5... Have fun. I really think that will lead to their demise. A big part of their business was always from Poser folks. A few of them have crossed over but most of them are saying 'screw you, DAZ!' I notice that the development of Antonia Polygon is going hell bent now.
So we'll see who wins. Daz may have shot themselves in both legs and both feet this time...

LOL. I was just thinking about DS vs. Poser not more than an hour ago.
I've been a loyal Poser user since 1.0 (or was it 2.0? can't remember. Ca. 1996) and while I have religiously upgraded to each and every version (incl. Poser Pro 2012) I find I haven't launched PP2012 more than 3x since it's release.
The one thing I'll give DAZ credit for is Studio has now become such a joy to use.
And the ironic thing - I get what you mean about their love for Genesis & V5, and don't get me wrong the technology is ΓΌber cool and all, but because DS4P has become so unstable with the last release I've been rediscovering my old M4 & V4 stash.
300+ GB of Poser content amassed over 15 yearsβ¦
I need a new hobby.

I was eyeballing the discussion, and it seems that DS4 is getting worse instead of better. I haven't had the crash problems with the version I have, but that whole program leaves me sort of cold.
Upgrading from DS2.3 to DS3 was a snap. No difference in anything that counted for the user. DS3 to DS4 is like climbing out of a Lamborghini and into a Model T. What was easy in DS3 is hidden or inoperative in DS4.
I don't want DS to be Poser, and that's what they tried, as near as I can see. Dumb. Just plain old dumb...

I admit, at first I was REALLY turned off by the new UI, but then I started playing around with it and finally got it the way I wanted. Here's my setup: [link]

Thank you so much for the George and I too don't post much at the DForums. LOL I feel like a bit of a redheaded stepchild there and not in a good way.

My pleasure on the fav.
WRT DAZ, not really liking the direction DAZ is heading. I get the feeling I'm not alone either which can only mean good things for all the other merchants and stores I hope.
