Well, you will notice I venture into many categories of art. Anime, sci-fi, photography, traditional media - I also make music and do some 3D modeling stuff as well. I also plan to start writing soon (aiming for a huge hit so I will never have to work again; I hate doing an honest day's work).
So I guess the secret is this: do more than just one thing. Expand your abilities so you have many ways to express yourself.

I don't *want* anyone to do anything, really. I was merely saying what I do personally. You do whatever works for you.
I will say this about school: science is where the money is these days. Whatever you do, don't be an English or psych major. Computer science, biology, physics, astronomy, chemistry -- all very rewarding fields if you apply yourself.
