My apologies for answering this note so late. I have been very slack and not looked at this site for a long time.
The pattern is called maru Bishamon
Bishamon is one of the seven gods of good fortune and the patron god of doctors, priests and soldiers. The pattern appears on Bishamon's armor and helmet. The pattern is a variation of the tortoise shell motif.
There are 3 variations of the Bishamon motif.

I was thinking about you recently. A friend of mine that is a very crafted quilt maker, like you are, explained to me that she make Fibonacci suite patterns when she want to make something harmonious but simple and quick. I thought about your students. I will try to get a shot a her work next opportunity.

Would love to see her work.
I try to incorporate the Fibonacci ratio whenever I can.
Thanks for thinking of me.

I have asked her yesterday but her work is packed for a sale to raise funds for a rare disease.
She makes great artsy quilts for the pleasure, but she try also to make quick and simple works for those occasions (no hand quilting) and she makes bands who are 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, wide and sew them together at random to make larger bands that can go around a square. Using Fibonacci suite for the size of bands make it harmonious without great effort.

Hope she raises lots of money.

At last since the association exist ( quite recently in fact ) it has given the start the research.
My own works sold well last year, so I made more for this time. But real big money must come from somewhere else.
