Description I really toyed with this one. The original was really bright and was garbage, essentially. But I used a channel mixer with another layer and managed to pull this off.

uuuuu it would make such a lovely blaze with a bicycle if it wasn't for all the branches on the floor ....err, now that I'm down drooling, I like the perspective

Great shot, I love the perspective!
Gods, I hate those artificial forests. They are soooo......creepy.
Have you read the book Raven's Gate?

Haha yeah my parents planted those things about 30 years ago.

I haven't! Should I? And thanks for the comment!

Yeah, read it when you get the book. There's a forest like this in there, one of the scariest moments in the book. That's why I'm so afraid of them...
No problem!

It made me think of "The Village" movie, which for some reason absolutely terrified me. ;D

Those trees are all so aligned! Why?

Aedan In reply to crazy-scientist [2006-02-24 01:11:36 +0000 UTC]

It's not a natural forest, my parents planted the trees.

crazy-scientist In reply to Aedan [2006-02-24 12:56:14 +0000 UTC]

Not natural? Humm... Even thow planted by men forest are always natural!? Unless the trees aren't for real... Your dad? Nice work and nice mind!

Aedan In reply to crazy-scientist [2006-02-24 17:23:42 +0000 UTC]

Well I mean, the seedlings were planted by my parents in certain places, rather than the seeds being dispersed naturally by the wind, hence the lines and artificial nature of the forest.

Awesome shot, I love the mood you set here, unrealistic and kind of like a painting. Nice lighting too, it kind of creeps around every tree and down through the canopy onto the straw floor. What did you do with the channels, just take out one of the RGB layers or what? Whatever you did, it came out very nice, which is exciting when you think your original image is trash. Definately going to save this one as a favorite. Good job.

Thank you for the favourite! And the comment!

I'm not sure what I did...in another layed I added the channel mixer and simply played around with the levels.

A really fitting title. Lovin' this! A very unreal feel to such a usual, real scene.

I liked this alot. All those trees standing in line, everything's looking so cold and eerie. Those spots of sun on the ground are pretty cool too. And I think I'll... give you a fav ... Yes, I did!

whee, this does look creepy!
seeing what it does (wish I'd see the original photo though), seems I'll have to check that channel mixer thingy

Lol the original was a mess. I had to crop off the bright reflection of the flash and so on. My mum said I should have saved it just to compare, lol.

Thank you!

"this is a logging forest isn't it?" - First thing that came to my head also, as the trees are perfectly inline. Great photo!

And nope, it's just a wall of pine my parents planted twenty years ago, you can see the bright fields through the trees on either side.

Lol no, you're not the first to assume either. It's merely a wall of trees my parents planted twenty years ago, you can see the fields peeking through on each side.

Thanks for the comment and the favourite!

You have all the elements of a perfect landscape photo here... I really feel like I'm standing in a vast forest. The repetition of the trees fill the frame as far as you can see with great lines to lead the eye further. And way to play with the channel mixer! That can be a scary tool, haha.
