Love the accuracy for Merida! Just looking up on the movie, it was good to hear that they got a lot of details fairly accurate. Neat to hear that Brave is set in the year 1066.

This works better with Merida. I love how this reminds me of Medieval England.

You're welcome. And I am serious. I am a fan of the Middle Ages/Medieval Times, and how the people lived and what they wore.

Sure, I'm a history student. Though my research focuses more on the transition from the late middle ages into the early renaissance.

Actually in one of the "making of" segments on the Blu Ray release, they said that Brave is set in the year 1066.

I don't own the blu ray, so I used Wikipedia and at that time it said something different. But I don't think fashions changed a lot during that century.

I don't think the medieval fashions changed much until maybe the 1400s.

True, or at least not as far as most artworks can tell us.

I think That Merida does like girly things, and this portrays her perfectly. I like that you didn't do a wimple for her, because with all that curly hair, I must be a pain in the rear.

The wimple wouldn't be worm by her anyway until after marriage. If Queen Elinor ever entered the picture then we would see a wimple.

I don't think the dress is girly or that Merida wouldn't like it. Sometimes I see her and Mulan being portrayed as disliking dressing up and such, but I think that they only want to wear appropriate clothes to what they're doing and enjoy being pretty for parties and such - even if Merida don't like wimples or tight corsets.
Now, I love all the golden details and the aqua color of the dress and the bell sleeves. The veil is also lovely, looks like something Merida would wear on her wedding day.
Her hair don't look frizzly enough, but is okay, though I think her face is too oval. But the grey eyes you put on her are beautiful, even if their accurate color is a variation of teal blue.

Oh the face, I know... but it's based on a coloring page of Merida and in the movie she does have a weird face... no idea what Disney did there, but I hope they won't do it again.

I love how you included her freckles! Also, that dress honestly WAS too tight for her. Poor thing.

Haha thanks! Yes it was, Queen Eleanor herself doesn't even wear a dress that tight.

She was probably trying to prevent her from running around and doing boyish things. And doing a very good job.
