...got me thinking about the whole concept of kissing under the...Mistletoe

...and found this:

"Mistletoe- Origins of its name - The common name of the plant is derived from the ancient belief that mistletoe was propagated from bird droppings. This belief was related to the then-accepted principle that life could spring spontaneously from dung. It was observed in ancient times that mistletoe would often appear on a branch or twig where birds had left droppings. "Mistel" is the Anglo-Saxon word for "dung," and "tan" is the word for "twig". So, mistletoe means "dung-on-a-twig". "

How did it ever become a catchy thing...at Christmas to kiss under....a dung-on-a-twig?!?!

Thank you for playing, Peter

The fog was really that thick?

annaa In reply to Viika [2005-11-13 05:34:40 +0000 UTC]

I blured out a bit where the butt was showing more than needed to get the message through but, yes, the fog gets funny like this.

I wanted to stop the other morning as I was passing a field (but couldnt in time cause of trafic was moving so slow and close) A tractor was parked in this field, but all you saw was the wheels and the white sky in the back.... The landscape is full of small hills...and the fog lay like ribbons almost as if a big eraser was taking away some of the view WOnderful to see!

Thank you for sharing your mind

mmmmm.... beautiful... when one accepts the unknown, to walk in mist, the unknown, no fear rest beside me anymore, so I lay me down in this beauty and absorb what is... I love walking in very fogy weather, it is my favorite sometimes, I go to the river and take pictures of the city/nature in the fog, my son why? it looks depressing, I say I think not to me, it is relaxing, it like entering another time, heaven...

i love it! is that the same pier as the one as the one in runway?

i like the feeling, its kinda damp and depressing, but the person is having fun anyways. enjoy life, even when it sucks

very pretty

annaa In reply to eaedyan [2005-10-17 13:47:51 +0000 UTC]

Yes, yes its the same place as in Runway Nice that you saw that

Thank you!

It's funny how most people find the mist...the fog...so depressing. I have always loved it for the not knowing what is ahead
...something wonderful maybe just around the corner

eaedyan In reply to annaa [2005-10-19 08:47:36 +0000 UTC]

hehe i can see that, its something to look forward to because you have total control to make up whatever you want. i just personally dont like foggy beaches, the smell is all wet and clammy. fog i dont mind, but the moisture and saltyness in the air i do

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

annaa In reply to eaedyan [2005-10-19 10:31:56 +0000 UTC]

We always have total control to choose what to believe the future holds. Non of us do in reality ever know, only guessing is what we have when thinking of the unknown I like to guess something great is ahead; who knows- we might attract what we have focus on

wow! I ADORE that smell How wonderful people are different!

I don't know if this is what you meant or not, but it looks sad to me.. Dark and gloomy. Running out in the unknown? I love the sea but I think it's pretty depressing when it's cold.

annaa In reply to jennee [2005-10-17 13:51:03 +0000 UTC]

The light at the sea on a foggy day, gives me a sense of new beginnings; a clean sheat of paper...and new time... I feel it as a time out too.

I adore the mist.
