I love how the colors fade into one another and add more depth. The swirl in the middle will draw attention to whatever it will hold.

Great glazing! What are the recipes if you don't mind giving them up?

Thanks! the green is a tom coleman celadon base with mason stain, then the black is out of john britts high fire book. i will get the recipes tomorrow.

Yeah, once you're doing more than 10 lbs, it gets kinda crazy on the wheel. I think last year I did a 20 lb plate or something. It was awesome - I want to get to 50 lbs at some point.

my professor and I did a 50lb plate, we were successful, but we couldnt get a wire under it haha..... So we recycled the clay.

I hate it when getting something off the wheel is a problem. In my second semester at college, I would usually work on a plastic bat, make the pot, pull a wire under the pot, and set the bat to the side for the pot to stiffen a bit before messing with it.

Impressive results man. Foot and a half after ^10? must have been close to 2ft when it was green.

Great glaze job.

How did you make a transition between the two glazes?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

APDeeman In reply to VidPen [2011-03-10 02:19:58 +0000 UTC]

using a high volume low pressure spray gun. i sprayed the inside first with green, then the outside rim with black last.

oh yeah and where they overlapped i got the dark blue. it was from the high percentage of cobalt in the black glaze.
