Finally there was one thing able to stop my momentum a humble root. As my foot slipped under a root I saw my life ending as my face hit the dirt. I crawled forward and turned, my back against an ancient tree. I could feel her presence before my eyes even looked up, she was so big that her presence was like a physical thing. I thought about my mom, and my best friend, how much they needed me to be there for them. I didn't want to die. I could feel her towering over me in the dark, rising up taller than the tree that had taken several lifetimes to grow to its size. The ground shifted and shook as she moved. What was left to do now? I begged, I pleaded anything to grant a pass back to continue living my life.
