Thanks for the compliments. You can find more info if you google with "Kusari-fundo" or "Manriki kusari" names.

Thanks for the compliments. I don't make oriental weapons very often, but there is one kunai set coming later in this fall.

I'm somewhat obsessed about Medieval and Feudal weaponry.

you really inspired me to try to make some weapons of my own. All i have now is a chain with a few links straightened out and sharpened, just for kicks.

Glad to hear that. You can post some pictures in here if you made something similar.

Geeeez...

Do you take sword commissions?

I don't make any kind of swords for sale.

Actual forging is not really the problem, but i can't harden so long metal objects with my small furnace and my quench tank is also not very suitable for longer objects. (Japanese swordsmiths have much longer furnaces in their forge.)

I make usually a little bit smaller weapons like axes.

What are the dimensions for your quench tank? I've just been using a bucket.

Lol, professionalism doesn't require expensive tools!
I'm currently working with a vice grip, pliers, a mapp gas torch, an angle grinder, and a big plastic bucket.

...And I already have a Bo Shuriken commission...

If people don't know how to do something, I guess the thing to do is charge them to do it for them.

That sounds very interesting. I also work tools just like that almost seven years when this thing was only a hobby and not any kind of income.

I build my first forge in year 2004 and now i have been "professional" in whole two years. (Or at least in the summer times..)
I work mainly in May to November, because my forge is located in old barnhouse and it's like a freezer in the winter time.

Astalo In reply to Upsilon400 [2008-09-28 00:32:33 +0000 UTC]

It depends how much time i spend on the project. I take usually 20 Euros per hour.
