Description Harlequin is my first insectoid anthro, and she is an Acrocinus longimanus, or Longhorn Beetle, also known as the Harlequin Beetle for its vibrant coloration. They can be found in places like Ecuador and Panama. The males are the ones that have the long 'horn'-like front legs, the females' are much smaller. I don't claim to be an 'expert' on bugs, and a lot of the characteristics and details on Harlequin were made on purpose, and I like the way she looks, so I would prefer not have critique from bug professionals about her 'incorrect' appearance I anticipate this type of creature will be featured somewhere along the line in the Langurhali story, and I'm sure to draw more bug anthros too. Cos they're fun! And very cute, I think

Thank you. I looked through your gallery, I think you have an excellent grasp of insect anatomy and I like how you don't just throw antennae and wings on them and call them 'bug anthros'. Very much liked "sicatolith infiltrator", keep practicing and keep up the good work!

Awww it's adorable, and you did the wing cases so well that I knew it was a Harlequin beetle from the thumbnail alone, before I had even read the title.

That is one of the most adorable bug anthros EVER. Can you do a butterfly next? I'm trying to convince one of my furry friends, who is a butterfly, that her character would look good as a true anthro rather than a four-armed human with wings. But she doesn't believe me that a bug anthro can be pretty

Love the colours, the big eyes and the mouth. LOVELY.

Yeah, you don't see too many insect anthros around these days. And even if they are, chances are it's a spider anthro, and those aren't bugs at all.

But wow, she's cute o_o

I certainly like the creativity this shows, for making an insect into a human form and keep it pleasing to the eye is no small task. Over all this is great, though I think the nose is a bit too tacked-on to make it more "human"... and bugs don't have noses lol. Anyways, great job, and it would certainly be great to see more unique anthros.

Blattaphile In reply to Frastus [2006-09-04 07:31:04 +0000 UTC]

I have a picture of the face of a Harlequin beetle, and while they don't have noses, their face DOES have those two orangish scaley things on it.
