Description This is one of the vehicles from my canceled Star Wars Fanfiction Series: Star Wars: The Shadow Wars.

Note: The information below is from my own universe which is a blend of old and new canon and is not to be considered canon in any other universe but mine. I should also mention that this ship is canon (or at least Legacy Canon) but its history is significantly different as far as my universe is concerned.

The image was acquired through Star Wars: Empire At War - Forces of Corruption.

The All Terrain Attack Pod, nicknamed the Sniper Tank, was designed to act as a long ranged armor destroyer for the Grand Army of the Republic. The AT-AP was meant to find a vantage point place as close to the back of the front lines as possible and use an advanced targeting computer to score direct hits with its mass driver cannon on enemy armor vehicles or enemy battlements. Small groups of AT-APs could prove vital in halting Separatist armor advances before Republic forces could get within the droids' weapons ranges. The back and chin mounted laser cannons could be used to help ward off any enemies that got too close while the walker was in transit as, while moving, the walker could not use its main cannon, as it had to turn or pivot its whole body in order to line up shots.

After the end of the Clone Wars, the AT-AP saw reduced usage and most ended up discarded at abandoned Old Republic bases or left half-assembled in deserted vehicle factories across the galaxy. Various criminal groups would acquire AT-APs for their own purposes, although they would often strip the walkers down and mount them on turret mounts, effectively turning the AT-AP into an effective long range defensive turret mount. The Rebel Alliance would acquire a few AT-APs and use them against the Empire. After the Empire fell, the New Republic would again decommission the AT-AP. However the 501st Legion, in keeping with their efforts to respectfully maintain old Clone War and Imperial Era tech, have managed to save quite a few AT-APs from scrap. However the 501st seldom deploys the AT-APs, as they're considered a "niche" weapon.
