The original, if memory serves me, was Odin. Nice interpretation of the "Wild Hunt" myth.

You are probably onto something there.
This drawing was actually inspired by reading about the legend of "Old Shuck" in a book of ghost stories.
I seem to recall the two legends were in some way connected. It's been a while since I read that.

Great compositon and shading! Nice job with the horse's skeleton and the spectral effect of the ghost dogs.

Wonderfully complex and majestic. The detailing is absolutely amazing. Superb anatomy and excellent ambiance. Incredibly beautiful style. The mythological aspect of it is beautifully evoked. It would make a great heavy metal album cover.

That's really amazing. I also saw a movie about this story, but I forgot what it was called. The man keeps beheading these people till his bones get burried in a grave so that he can finally rest.
Anyway, especially the horse looks great!

Umm... would that be Tim Burton's version of "Sleepy Hollow"?

I'm really not sure. It has been a while ago.

Dude, that's the most bad ass Hunstman I've ever seen. I was first introduced to the character through an old AD&D book called Legends and Lore. He's part of Celtic folklore as I recall. It's just so crazy and expressive. Really evil looking.

Thanks, man! Yeah, Bernie was always my favorite artist, ever since I first saw his work at the age of nine. And over the past 2 years, he's become a friendly acquaintence. For a living legend, he truly is one of the nicest people you'll ever meet.

Thanks! Yeah, I think Mike Mignola did a "Hellboy" comic story based on this legend where he named the ghost "King Vold". But I remember reading about it years before that, in an old book of ghost stories (which I am too lazy to go look up at the moment) and his name was something different. Anyway, thanks for your comments!

Great! My only suggestion would be to do something with teh whitespace behind him. Having clean whtie behind him seems to take away from his menace.

Thanks for the suggestion but this one's done. That's just how I am. Once I finish a piece of artwork it's in the past and it's time to move on to the next one. And if I made any mistakes in that last drawing, I just try to take it into account and apply that knowledge to my next illustration.
