First thing I want to say is: Finally finished! This image has taken me forever, it feels good to finally be done with it. I drew the sketch while I was at comic con, just like how i did [link] at anime expo.Anyway, the idea for the image is this: The title is supposed to be ambiguous. Who are the "scouts" and what are the two figures in the foreground doing? If you assume they are enemies of the men below, what's the reason for holding back against such laid back soldiers? Is it because the two are "just scouts?" Perhaps they are under orders, as scouts, not to engage the enemy? Or maybe they are simply unable to take on so many men? Perhaps they are not sure if these are the only soldiers? What if the men below are the "scouts?" Would not killing them then be pointless? Since they are "just scouts."

What can I say? WOW. The lighting is the best part IMO. I looked through the tutorial as well and I think you did the right thing choosing to discard the "prisoner" idea. This has so much more anticipation and intrigue.
Colour work is ULTIMATE UBERLEETNESS hehe The clothes and the hair on the guys hair are really well detailed plus the tree branches.
Well, it's just plain sick. V nice. How long did it take?

very nice composition, very balanced. although one exception that i dont really like, the sort of glow around the "scouts", makes its look kinda of like its unfinished a bit, or you wanted the "scouts" to stick out more.

Pretty astounding work here. I like the fact that you use a pencil sketch as your line art base - I feel I do much better sketching using pencil and paper than the tablet - don't know why. Anyhow - all said and done - gives me hope for developing my style... Thanks for the tutorial/journal - very cool and well done!

I am 100% totally in love with your style. Everything about it. The lineart is flawless, and the coloring is accurate and suited to match to a 'T'.
I'm absolutely stunned at the impact the whole composition has. It's all working so seamlessly together, and by your descriptions of its evolution (from your artist's journal) I'd say that you've thought out every factor in this peice on a level that is beyond me.
