Description
I was thinking since I am working on my own custom D&D Dragon Species based on Land, Water, Sky, and Dragons from the elemental plane of Fire they would all probably have their own variants of Kobolds.
The Common Kobold can be considered the Land/Earth Kobold, Canonically they typically live underground, they are are excellent miners who are in a state of bliss whenever they can dig, and can use magic to scry and find Gemstones and Metals hidden in the earth.

Fire Kobolds are rarely seen in the material plane, some are still found in very hot places like around Volcanic activity but they are primarily residents to the elemental plane of Fire. Story goes that when the material plane first formed out of the elemental chaos, Dragons from the 4 elemental Planes wandered into the new world and began to shape it to their likings.
Earth Dragons started raising mountains
Water Dragons started carving rivers and lakes
Air Dragons started playing with the clouds and making the Weather
and Fire Dragons started burning all they saw in their path.

They did not believe they were causing harm, they just wanted to make the world closer to their own homeland like what all the other Dragons were doing, but the other Dragons saw the Fire dragons as Destructive and Careless so they teamed up and waged war on the Fire Dragons and with their combined might they overwhelmed them. The Fire Dragons were banned from the other Dragon's Minecraft Server for griefing and sent back to Fire Plane. The Earth, Water, and Air Dragons eventually diversified into the many species of Land, Aquatic, and Weather Dragons but the Fire Dragons remained the same.
Some Fire Kobolds were left behind from the the old Fire Dragon territories in the material plane. They have an innate Fire-resistance and the ability to let off light and heat from the fire marks on their bodies.
