Description
The awesome lady here is a worshiper of the egyptian god Set (largely associated with snakes) and her story is a very interesting one of revenge and freedom, so I'm honored to be painting her in the first place.This was done as a prize for a contest hosted by the lovely and sorry for being so late with the prize!
And finally, Nabirye is a character by , who I not only consider a highly talented and skillful artist but a friend as well <3

jajaa si yo tmb soy fanatica, hasta tengo un almanaque que un amigo me trajo del museo de Alfons Mucha, me encanta ese estilo, yo en lo persona lo suelo usar para el pelo, me gusta como el pelo de las chicas va por todos lados, separados en mechones y ese estilo de colores tan pastel a veces. Igual es lindo ponerle detalles lo importante es q toda la imagen se mantenga homogenea, si pones detalles en un lado tenes q poner en el resto

Es que los almanaques Mucha son lo más! Yo también tengo uno de las temporadas que me vino con un póster, pero me lo conseguí en una librería de mi ciudad así que no se si es muy legitimo
Y note la influencia! Sobretodo en la forma en que compones los retratos de estilo más tradicional, mantienen un sentido de simetría o armonía muy bonito... y lo del cabello es reconocible, aunque bien a tu estilo igual. Yo ojala pudiese trabajar más con pasteles, me encantan pero siempre termino gravitando más a los neones o colores más vivos.
Con los detalles lo que pasa es que empiezo a agregar y como vos decis tengo que hacer después el triple porque sino nunca encuentro un balance. Es un circulo infinito de ediciones!

ooh you really have a talent for drawing women together with animals! I love how the snakes have different appearances, one with a small head and galaxy-like scales and the other one resembling a dragon and looking great as a picture frame! x3 I also like how her hair is curling around her shoulder ^^

Honestly, this is really cool. I'm in love with the coloring of this one! The snake looks really cool, looks shiny and just kind of like magical? idk how to explain, but it just looks really cool... lol and the color choice for behind the head is really good. and then the lighting that comes forward to infront of her hair (like the dots) is a really cool effect. makes it kind of look otherworldly? and then the line shading behind her head really kind of puts her in importance and a higher status, its pretty cool. and then the snake in the background is really good as well and I like that its the same color as her outfit!

Aaaa, this is such a nice analysis, I'm glad you liked it enough to come up with such wonderful theories! And the character is an egyptian lady who worships the a god largely associated with snakes (Set), so I think the snake could easily actually be magical! And she also does have a high status to begin with so it's awesome to hear all of that came across somehow.

Thank you lots! It was my first time painting a snake and I do think the "head" of the one she's holding could've turned out better, but it's still awesome to hear you liked the look of it! And I love anything surrounding mythology so this was a very exciting portrait to paint in the first place, and a great excuse to read more into the subject

At first I did have some problems with the color palette, since the snake was a bright purple originally and I thought it was a bit too matchy matchy for my taste, so it's seriously great to hear you liked my direction in the end!

She is so delicate! I loved the details of the ring snake, it seems to be a sacred ornament carved in wood, and the scales texture of the smaller snake is beautiful!

That's such a beautiful comparison, and it fits right in with her backstory too (she's a worshipper of the egyptian snake god)!! And from Syl's original piece with her, I really got the vibe that she was a dangerous beauty, so I wanted to capture some of that latent deadliness while still trying to give her pretty features. The snakes ended up being a lot of fun too in the end! (and i'm sure would look amazing in your style as well!)

Syl knows how to create more than beautiful characters I'd say, Nabirye is another one who inmediatly intrigued me and it was exciting to try to capture her personality on a portrait. Plus I couldn't help but get some "femme fatale" vibes from her backstory, so I really wanted to communicate that as well. She's not someone to be messed with!
plus mythology always interested me a lot, so this was a double win for me in that aspect haha
