Finally finished my part of the trade!! and it only took me 80 years!Astoria is an amazing oc by SoulOfPersephone , who captivated me with her colorful art and all the luscious hair she paints
And as always, when there's an opportunity for long and flowing hair... I take it.

And yes, that hair doesn't really make much sense but it sure was a lot of fun to paint!

Thank you omg!! The hair alone was my favorite part to paint, the character just had so much of it and even though it defies gravity... I really couldn't resist the concept of another giant flowing mane
I also recently learned those shines are actually called "bokeh" effect and im already addicted to adding them haha.

And I definitely had that in mind while painting the portrait, so it makes me so happy to heart it comes across. And almost all of my portraits have that "melancholic" or sad vibe so I should maybe try drawing some happy faces once in a while haha

I was aiming for a nostalgic vibe, since I imagine the love story involving her to have a ton of sadness, so I'm actually happy you picked up on that. I should definitely try doing more happy faces though, it seems I always revert to this kind of melancholic looks involuntarily haha

And oh, I love me some sad faces. It's such an interesting balance, everything perfect and serene, beautiful and lit yet there's a sorrow that's like a veil on it all. If you want to do happy faces, I say go for it. But I've noticed when it comes to doing art that there are periods where some ideas just stick around for a few pieces, ya know? Just roll with it if ya want too.

Haha, thanks for the effort! I had a sketch at first that looked a lot more similar to your fix at first, but decided against it in order to create a more anime or exaggerated look if you will. So at least in this case the exaggeration was on purpose

Yep, it's definitely not anime, you're right there (and you would be better suited to make a judgement there, as your art style is a lot closer), but I still wanted to enfasize the eyes in a way that would read more intense, so therefore I made a choice to enlarge them (even if it was a terrible one haha). Idk, maybe it's because I spent so much time on it, so the mistakes can become more hard to spot. I'll have to take a new look later, and see about maybe tweaking something then (I feel like the ear could be more in line with the face so far).

HAHAHA, that's the best description ever (and so accurate)! And the scars on her arm symbolize her dragon, which is intertwined with herself and it's part of her power I think. Her creator would be a lot more eloquent explaining it, but Astoria embodies the white dragon, while her bf is the black one (and I ship them so hard haha).

And this was originally going to have brighter colors, but I felt a more pastel theme on the background suited the "sparkling" effect better haha

Oh, I absolutely love "cat" eyes! And this color! It's perfectly fits here! Eyes are very prominent in comparison with the rest of the face, which gives a charm! Pastel colors perfectly emphasize this!
