In her youth, Uru is constantly compared to those around her, but especially to her younger sister Nyarai. King Khari and Queen Desta expect a lot from their daughters, and it seems that Uru always falls short of expectation. She is married and has a cub while still very young. Though the child is fat and healthy, Uru finds that everytime she looks at him, her stomach drops. This is not what she ever wanted, a mate and cubs, a kingdom to chain her into responsibilities that she is unsure she could ever manage. When it becomes clear to the pride's healers that Uru is slipping into mental illness, Khari insists that Qamar be given to a wet nurse. This is Uru's final straw. When her handmaidens leave her for the night, Uru does not return to her den, and instead leaves the Junglelands.

She finds herself in the Pridelands -- it was not her plan, but the kingdom has a reputation for taking in those in need, and she decides to try her luck. Plagued by depression and demons from a past she thought was long behind her, Uru cannot help but pass on her apathetic disposition to her third son, Takata. She would have been happier had she had no cubs at all.

The Pridelands have caused her just as much pain as her homeland, so she chooses to leave it in the same manner. Now that Scar is dead and there is a new King (she is disinterested in the debates of Simba's legitimacy), nothing is tying her to the Pridelands -- she leaves in the middle of the night, and is never seen again.

uruuuuu! she has such dark fur because of her lineage -- she's from the junglelands, where the lions most often have very dark brown / red fur, and her mother is from the blacklands, where the lions most often have near-black fur.

poor poor lady her status in the junglelands brings her pain, and then the attention she gets in the pridelands for her "exotic" looks bring her even more hurt... she suffers from depression (regular and post-partum), but more than that, she would never be with any lion she marries -- my version of uru is a lesbian. she gets a happy ending after leaving the pridelands, i promise!! just wait til i get to deka's ref
