Oh, this is a work made with extreme sensibiliy, Carole Humphreys. Extreme sensibility. You remember me women writers of your country - like Virginia Woolf and Jane Austen. Congratulations

Thank you so much. Imagine that, being compared to Jane Austin and Virginia Woolf - you're the first to say this and I loved it

WJSolha In reply to CaroleHumphreys [2005-05-03 17:18:50 +0000 UTC]

I love both writers.I love the old England. Sargent, american, painted one of his best masterpieces in Broadway, England: Carnation, Lily, Lily, Rose, that remember me your last work with the children.

CaroleHumphreys In reply to WJSolha [2005-05-03 18:30:09 +0000 UTC]

I love that painting by Sargent, in fact I've written a poem based upon that painting and submitted it to my other DA account - link: [link] - I was not happy with the poem, but my tutor liked it.

WJSolha In reply to CaroleHumphreys [2005-05-03 18:53:52 +0000 UTC]

Oh, it was very exciting to read your poem after our conversation with so great coincidence! I am a poet, too ( see, if you want, [link] about my last book published in Portugal ) and your teacher is right: your "Carnation, Lily, Lily, Rose" is a beautiful poem. Like the SargentΒ΄s paint. I love Sargent. I have here, before me, a copy of the "Lady Agnew" that I painted only for pleasure.
Oh, about the mistake around your age: I was kiding with you because I did read in your page something like "old". I am 63 and very happy with the things as they so. Congratulations for you drawings and your so delicates verses. You are a special woman. A fairy.

I did read in comments that you made to other people that you are a poet. I tried the link, but I couldn't find your book. I will have a look on google later

Thank you for your kind words; I can pretend to be a fairy, but I would need big wings to fly.

Oh, yes, there are informations about the book on google, altavista, etc. The tittle is " Trigal com Corvos" ( Wheat Field with Crows), and you see, in the cover, my self-portrait ( you can see it here, on deviant ) in the painting of Van Gogh.

Hi there on Saturday.

Main thing is: this one plus last Minotaur and Mermaids are available for Mobile download. I don't know if that was your intention so I'm just pointing this out.

CaroleHumphreys In reply to Irena-N-Photography [2005-04-09 19:44:53 +0000 UTC]

Hi

Yes, I deactivated the stuff that I didn't think would suit download to a mobile. I'll only rebel and deactive the better work if DA shrinks the images to a detrimental level. I made the decision that my work is online anyway and liable to get used and abused without my blessing. If I consent in this instance, it will be being used in a way I'm aware of and this also might make make the work less desirable to be ripped. I will see how things go.

Irena-N-Photography In reply to CaroleHumphreys [2005-04-09 21:57:16 +0000 UTC]

That's good to know. Maybe I can download your Mermaids into my cellphone and get jailed for indecency.

I spent most of the day today trying to deactivate the scraps and I was furios there was no access from the management panel. Ghrrr... Then I started looking trough everything and made decision to put more personal stuff from gallery to scraps so the gallery is more like photography in general and scraps are like the second gallery with some fun, some manipulations and some submissions I don't plan to edit. I will have to put it in my journal next week to let everybody know. The scraps are out of any front page, general page or tumbnail display at dA so there is no other way to see them but to go to MY main page. Plus it's a lot easier to view in two layouts in my opinion. Ha, we will see.

Oh, and when I was checking that Mobil version without logging in I couldn't open Mermaids because of adult contest. So it's working for all no-dA visitors.

Enjoy your weekend.

And when you have time check, please, how is my idea to divide the gallery working for you.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

CaroleHumphreys In reply to Irena-N-Photography [2005-04-09 23:29:52 +0000 UTC]

Oh no! You've rumbled my master plan ... but are my pictures explicit enough to get people jailed? I would not want you to be the guinnea pig on this occasion; I know how much your family need you for your technical know how and cooking skills ...

I will check you're gallery-shuffles out in a few day's time. I've got another 12 hour shift at work tomorrow and on Monday, I'll be back at uni.

Europe can't do the downloads for a cellphone yet ... so I'll only be able to spread my filthy art to mobile phones in certain nations at the moment. it's a pity that there's not some sort of counter to let you know if you're work has been downloaded to a mobile and how many times.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Irena-N-Photography In reply to CaroleHumphreys [2005-04-11 19:27:08 +0000 UTC]

They should add something like "views" we have for deviations. If something is available for downloading the owner should know how many times. Drop the idea at the help desk.

You never know with US what is considered explicit. Half of music CDs are out in two versions - Parent Advisory and Edited - and sometimes only because the singer is crooning "I live for drugs..." or "looking down the barrel of the 45". And during showing music videos they cover with that muddy circles even bust of the statues! Like in The Darkness video. So showing your Mermaids on TV will be blurred by said circles. I have no idea how it works with mobile phones though. Maybe it's OK how long some kid isn't exposed to the picture. On the other hand you can download "satisfied sexual noises" as a ringtone, so...

Oh, it looks like I'm finishing with storing my important files to CDs to prevent them from being eaten if that virus of mine has some delayed reaction on the system. For now almost everything looks normal and rescanning didn't find anything extra. So I should be back to using my free time on dA instead of NAV sometime soon.

CaroleHumphreys In reply to Irena-N-Photography [2005-04-11 22:55:13 +0000 UTC]

I'm too lazy to make the suggestion to DA, but if you'd like to, or anyone else, feel free

Blurred circles on my mermaids' boobies ... Noooooooo! I'd rather paint naff seashell bras on them, rather than have that happen. Those are some weird double standards. As my friend Ravnen has said, the day they decide breasts are sexually explicit, is the day they'll have to blindfold babies breastfeeding ((or something like that)).

Glad you're free of the virus and you've saved your work OK.

Irena-N-Photography In reply to CaroleHumphreys [2005-04-12 00:58:51 +0000 UTC]

That's the best response I heard. Poor babies!
You should see museum tours on US TV - David's statue with blurry circle is more than amusing. And poor Americans can't see the joke on them.

Virus free but busy. Hard time during Spring - helping hubby with the boat - making it ready for sailing seasson. Ghrrr...

Such a lovely 'mona lisa' type of smile. (not that she looks like mona of course) it is just a very enigmatic type of smile, perhaps a little melancholy.
As always beautiful details. I especially love the hair and cloth in this.

Thank you for sharing

Is it a blouse or a jacket? Either way the detail is lovely. You have done her pretty face justice. Even the leaves look like you have taken care with them. A most bodacious polished piece.

Awww... thank you so much. She has a dress on and is wearing it over her T-shirt. It was my dress and she didn't like it much. Hehehe, but I had the camera and she was posing for me. The photo is over twenty years old, so I expect Gilly has changed a lot
