This is my entry for the 'Your Favourite' competition [link] rub byI think I ruined poor Christopher Ralph in this portrait - I had a small photo of him but something seems off about the proportion
Christopher Ralph plays Tobias in the Animorph tv series, based off the book by K.A. Applegate. It was my FAVOURITE book series because it had eveything! Aliens, kids that could turn into animals, a mission to save the world. Awesome. To be honest, I quite liked the show. This is a portrait of him and his favourite form, the Red-Tailed Hawk [link]
For a while Tobias was my favourite character because he was the quiet loner who always got picked on. But when I think about it, except for Jake all of the Animorphs were my favourites.
Critique: If anyone can tell my how to improve the composition or the background, don't hesitate to let me know.

I love the hawk in the background! It seems to me, the mouth and noes are a little to small and the whole face kinda of cinches to the right. I have this problem too, a good way to prevent it is when you're still sketching, hold your paper up to the light so you can look through it. Seeing the image flipped makes proportional issues more obvious. Your brain has become accustomed to seeing it one way, flipping it over lets you see it fresh. Also, his shoulder looks a little shlumpy. Other than that, I like how you handled the skin tone using different layered colors.

Let it be known that I am no pro art critic, but what stands out to me at this point is that the face seems to be too long and pointed. Otherwise, looks great, and Tobias rules!

Fair enough. I was using a very small reference picture because it was the only one I had so I couldn't see all the details. But thank you for the constructive criticism!

And yeah, there were never really any good reference pictures of him, especially given that he was only on 6 book covers and they switched his 'actor' at least once, probably twice.

Yeah...Tobias only 'wrote' every third book out of ten, and one extra after #45. So #s 3, 13, 23, 33, 43, and...~49, IIRC. He appeared on the Megamorphs covers too, but still, not too many.

I loved those books. I didn't know they made it into a series.
