Description I'm disappointed in myself. After all the work I spent on the face, I half-assed everything else and bogged the whole drawing down. All the same, I needed to get this out of my system.

I've been trying to draw this scary fucker for years, he's always had a special place in my many, recurring nightmares so he deserved a fanart.

Say what you will about Stephen King, I like his stuff a lot and IT will always remain one of my favorite horror stories.

They float, they all float, and when you're down here with me... YOU. FLOAT. TOO.

Buh?... You should wait for a day where you're stuck at home with nothing to do and watch it with your kid. She'll have nightmares for ever and ever and ever after. Or you could just watch the Nostalgia Critic review of the movie.

WATCH THE MOVIE I PROMISE YOU WON'T REGRET IT. But it's also a really long movie and there's actually a credits break in the middle of it because it was meant to be a multiple made for TV series in two parts.

Stephen's a lot like Edgar Allan Poe:both great writers, their writings mostly dealt with the macabre, and both were alcoholics(though Stephen broke the habit from what I hear). The two things where they differ is Stephen hasn't died in a ditch yet and Edgar couldn't kill a man using only his will.

I f*cking love how you illustrated his mouth all stretched/unhinged like that. That's so cool.
For some reason after I saw the movie when I was like seven, I somehow had this image in my head like his mouth could actually stretch enormously and his fangs took growth too, it was pretty effed, I know.
So however many years later I had the guts to watch IT again, and I was disappointed to realize that his features never changed that drastically, and that the movie overall didn't really scare me anymore, I found it humorous, much like others do.
So I read the novel shortly after, LOVED it, but sadly I could never imagine the characters in their written appearance because I always pictured young Bill being Jonathon Brandis and Seth Green being Richie and etc. The one thing I really like was the major H.P. Lovecraft influence King clearly had when writing IT, because of all the cosmology in it (deadlights, the macrovese, other beings, etc.) Anyways I'll stop babbling now. I like this illustration and that is that...and Pennywise, I'm pretty much obsessed with him, oh the irony.

CindarellaPop In reply to CrookedVultures [2011-03-24 23:54:50 +0000 UTC]

Oh I'm the same, I imagine Tim Curry while I read the book too. The movie made a big impact on me, which is sad because it's not even really all that "good" of a movie, but it's super effective anyway.

King has some Lovecraft fan-fiction published in some of his short story volumes.

What's this horror story called? I'm always up for reading a good horror story.

Also, that face is creepy. I think it looks cool rather than scary. What I was afraid of when I was little was Chucky from "Child's Play". Sure, he's silly to others, but mainly because of him, I despise dolls.

There was this episode of X-Files where this weird killer alien creature thing lived in the city drains and would crawl out of people's toilets and stuff. Anyway, for YEARS, I couldn't do my business without looking into the toilet simultaneously to make certain nothing was coming out to kill me. I still feel a bit weird sitting on toilets in the dark without being able to see inside them first

CindarellaPop In reply to cosmicspider [2011-03-24 19:37:03 +0000 UTC]

Bathrooms in general I think have a lot of psychology behind them, especially for little kids. Something scary happens in a bathroom, it's somehow worse than if it happens in a kitchen or bedroom.

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

cosmicspider In reply to CindarellaPop [2011-03-24 19:41:27 +0000 UTC]

I dunno, bedrooms are pretty important places. Consider the possessed clown doll in Poltergeist that attacked that boy in his room :C That's from whence my fear of clowns all started. And my fear of closets.

AWESOME!
And, wow, that scary face is freakin frightening. I had to say it,

I remember I saw the movie based on that Stephen King book ,"It". . . but it wasn't scaring at all, in fact, I couln't stop laughing so hard at it. I dunno how the book is (I guess way much better) but the film was all screwed up. If that clown had worn a face like that one, it would've worked better. I stop typing already.

Anyway, awesome job, as always

CindarellaPop In reply to aita92 [2011-03-24 19:25:25 +0000 UTC]

The movie messed my head up when I was a little kid. It's one of those movies I think can really scare kids but doesn't scare anyone else.

The book is amazing though, there's so much stuff they cut out from it.

aita92 In reply to CindarellaPop [2011-03-25 08:49:51 +0000 UTC]

Bawbaw, can you recommend me any horror movies? I'd like to watch them but I just don't want to buy something from store and then realize that I bought pure shit.

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

CindarellaPop In reply to TerppaFluff [2011-03-24 19:14:48 +0000 UTC]

Well, let's see...

One good one is Eraserhead. It's really surreal and doesn't make a lot of sense, the images in it are really freaky. It's in black and white. Most people either HATE that movie or LOVE it, the whole thing is available on youtube.

John Carpenter's The Thing is a good scifi horror flick about a shape-shifting alien terrorizing scientists at a base in Antarctica. It's really well put together and has lots of cheesy 80's goodness.

A good werewolf flick would be Dog Soldiers, about a platoon of soldiers holed up in a woman's house with her, trying to stave off attacking werewolves until dawn.

One of my personal favorites is Nosferatu, both the original and remake. Granted, both of these films are just a little bit "art house" and not everyone likes them, but the imagery is great in both of them and the remake starring Klaus Kinski is more accessible and I would say even more entertaining.

There's also "The Bad Seed," which tells the story of a little girl born without a conscience. This is another oldie, black and white, and it was a stage play set to film. There's no gore whatsoever to speak of, but the acting really shines and the concerned mother of the little girl carries the show. It's really, really fucked up.

For horror-comedy, there's Tremors, a series about a small town being terrorized by bizarre alien-like monsters. Also in that genre is Slither, a disgusting yet hilarious parasite-horror movie, as well as "Killer Clowns from Outer Space." Which is exactly what it sounds like.
