I was looking through some of my older stuff and I had completely forgotten about this particular comic page. Here is an earlier version of the fifteenth page of the first issue of "Opey the Warhead", seen here: [link]It depicts the three bullies: Jethro, Richard, and Stan. Originally, I was going to have the classes in Opey's school take place in a chapel behind the prison. However, no prison has an ornate cathedral in it's back, so I excised the chapel from the story altogether in the newer version of Opey (posted here on DA). In the second panel, there's the professor, Langeneckert. His original design had him looking like he went to the same hairstylist as the lead singer from "The Cure". Opey has pretty much always looked the same, though, lucky kid.

I'm not a comic person...but I really like this. I think it's because the part from about his head down could be a standalone drawing - and at first glance, I thought it was. :*)

It looks like Aria, not one of the bullies. Before I read the comments I thought this would be a version where Opey enters school after her. Why was he so calm?

The kid here is Jethro and he does look rather girly. A problem I had with this page was, beyond the chapel, there wasn't enough shock in Jethro's face. The newer version takes care of that problem.

Actually, at one point, I did think of making Opey look human. He was going to be a nuclear-powered robot who looked human. I settled on this missile-looking kid, instead.

Everything old is new again. I like the newer version of the kids and the storyline. I can see where the chapel would have given a different view to the story.
