Very cool. I think the Apophysis image really comes out well on the cracked paint background. What I really like is how you handled the border. It looks like you put the fractal through magnify, blur, and burn filter. It really makes a nice border.

The fractal was actually rendered at 1600x1200, so it is big enough to occupy the entire image. I cut out the center of the fractal and used that as the "main" part. The border was just the part of the fractal that did not get picked to be in the center.
The background was edited by overlaying the transparency channel (alpha channel) of the original image, and then subtracting it (or, technically, subtracting it's inverse, which Corel does automatically when you select subtract). Consequently it makes the image darker and, unlike multiplying, it increases the contrast.
