Description
This is Neara, a commission for of his fan character for his published Metroid based fanfic, "The Metroid Files#1." (On Amazon here: [link] )This was a collaboration with , who is my hero and did the sketchwork for me. Check out her awesome gallery!
I really enjoyed relearning to paint metal, and by that I mean it sucked. But I'm getting the hang of it again, somehow.

Great colouring!
I like the emerald colour scheme a lot.
I do have a few points for the lineart though.
Her legs are too masculine and should be more narrow from the hips, making it appear her legs in overall as too bulky for a woman.
If I look at Samus (which has roughly the same body type), her legs are more narrow.
Also her cheeks could have some more volume to look better anatomically.
Everything else of her lineart is very well done!

Thanks a lot! Yeah the green was called for by Reanimator, but he gave me full run to do it how I thought it would look best. I'm glad you approve!
As for the lineart, I'd still say it's a matter of opinion, on the legs and cheek volume in this case. I like the high cheek bones, more angular facial structure. I think it's artistic. In fact, I think I made her cheeks a little too round. I do see your point tho.
As for the legs, that depends on where you look. The original artwork for Samus from NES and SNES Metroid games has her legs and body ridiculously thick. She's been slimming down for the last decade, and more recent images definitely show her thinner than what we did here.
Thanks for the good feedback as always, and I am happy with the outcome. We'll see how the next one goes.

Yeah, it is more because of the shading then line art that gives the cheeks their distinct look.
True, it is also a matter of different tastes.
As it happens I have the Super Metroid boxart in my workroom (game packages are a great source for inspiration and reference).
The SNES Varia Suit bottom leg parts looks a bit like greaves that knights used to wear.

As you can see the hips narrows down slighty which then it widens again.
Neara's suit does not narrow down, so I still think a small narrower portion would look better on her.
But you are right though, a lot of newer images shows Samus's suit a lot slimmer then in the past.
