As civilization was collapsing many people tried to take roads as they had fled the cities and the suburbs. However, the situation on the roads was not much safer as the panicking drivers who attempted to flee the chaos became excessively reckless. Accidents from car collisions, wandering zombies and even drive-by shootings from looters and the authorities began to clutter streets with debris and corpses turning freeways into deathtraps and many civilians were forced to abandon their cars. Eventually only car wrecks and the undead populate the road.

A couple of survivors were forced to abandon their previous settlement when it was overran by a herd of zombies forcing them to hotwire an abandoned and partially-fueled sedan out on the road to find a new place to settle down but it became increasingly difficult as they come across numerous roadblocks full of wrecked cars, abandoned military barricades, and zombie hordes and had to take several long detours and expend fuel they couldn't afford to lose. Will they be able to hold out long enough to get to safety?
