Sexual Dimorphism: Males are larger in size, while females are smaller. However, females tend to have larger fins, while males are smaller. Children are hard to tell, and don’t even have all their fins or the ability to produce their known glass-like substance.
Behaviour/Bio: The planet Perfirism is almost entirely water based, with many islands scattered across it. Because of this, Conjurlacras are one of the few creatures on this planet that spends time on both land and water, along with being the only sentient beings there too. They are used to the distant and isolated lifestyle, forming small clans and groups on different islands, or underwater bases. This has caused the Conjurlacras to lack a lot of conflict and wars in their culture, as there was plenty of space and resources in their world for them, and are generally non confrontational.
This has also led to them being rather skittish of outsiders, and not prone to fighting directly. With their illusion powers, and able to grow glass-like spikes, they tend to keep predators and foes away long enough before looking for a way to run off safely. Even when joining the outside galaxy, they still get very nervous around new people, and generally have a lot of anxiety. With their bodies rather squishy, they are not good at tanking heavy hits, which sparks jokes from outsiders how they are fragile like glass, though this is an over exaggeration.
Despite their anxieties, they are calm and gentle beings, and are willing to get to know someone if they prove they can be trusted. They also have an eye for beauty, using things like gems, metals, or even their own glass like material to craft and create things, ranging from little sculptures, to full blown underwater locations under stained-glass domes. Art or crafting is often your best bet when speaking to them for the first time, and not having them go quiet around you.
They are very loyal and loving to the groups, families and friends they have, and are known to show affection pretty often. Whether that be through nuzzling, or making a gift for someone. It’s not something they shy away from or feel embarrassed by. Often when one starts being affectionate to you, that’s a good sign they are warming up to you.
Abilities:
Illusions - They are able to summon very detailed illusions, ones that can very easily trick almost any mind. Ranging from making an object seemingly appear, to mimicking people or reshape an entire room to look different. Often the older a Conjurlacras is, the more powerful their illusions are, elders known to craft impressive feats with this ability.
Glass-Like Spikes/Spines - As they grow older, Conjurlacras are able to create a glass-like substance that forms into spikes and spins on their body. Their shards are fragile, but incredibly sharp. They are able to fling them from their body as a projectile weapon, and have great aim. It also comes in handy if someone were to physically get up close and fight them, as tackling one would only end up with the foe covered in broken off glass-like shards, and the Conjurlacras running off when the shards break off of them. They are known to also use these shards with their illusions, a common tactic being to create illusions to distract someone, before leaving shards across the floor they won’t see. If needed, mostly when touching people they don’t want to hurt, they can absorb the glass-like material back into their body for a while.
Prehensile Tail - They are able to control their tails like a fifth limb, often using it when swimming, showing affection, or to display as a warning. They do have a strong swing to it, but you should mostly worry about the glass-like spikes on it when getting hit by one.
Water Breathing/Land Breathing - Originating from the ocean, they are able to live on both land and water, thus able to breathe in both areas without trouble. They do need to swim every so often, making sure not to dry up, but other than that they live perfectly fine in both worlds.
Quadrupedalism - Because of how their bodies are built, they are able to go on all fours and run faster, or pounce higher. They often do so when escaping danger, seeking food, or just playing games with each other. Their long limbs also mean they have long reach.
High-Stamina/Speed/Reflexes/Balance - While not tanky beings, they are aliens with a strong biology. Very slick and quick, they are able to jump on their toes in a second, and are able to dodge, roll, and move in a blink of an eye. Their slender like bodies allow for interesting movement, and as long as they can keep enemies away from them, they tend to be alright during fights, even if they’re not keen for them.
Weaknesses: They don’t do well in dry and extremely hot environments, especially without water, as their skin will dry up, causing them to feel sick and even die. Due to their squishy bodies, they are not tanky fighters, and are known to bruise easier than you would think, so they often have to be careful and keep a distance from people trying to hurt them. Certain people and beings are known to be immune to their illusions, or at least know their way around it. Their glass-like spikes are fragile, and while that mostly works in their favour, it does mean you can easily break the stuff if needed. They are known to be nervous and have bad anxiety, which can lead them to making flighted calls or unusual behaviour.
