How did you construct the dragon and its wings? Is the body made of cereal treats? How did you get the coloring on the dragon (luster dust, disco dust, ect?) and how did you make each individual little piece of gold coins? Ive been asked to make a dragon birthday cake and im looking for some tips because I would love for it to look this awesome and detailed Hope I didnt ask too many questions... I look forward to hearing back from you soon

I made a small mountain of cereal treats, then covered it with a thin layer ย of sugarpaste. I modeled a handful of cereal treats on the small mountain to make the body (excluding the limbs, head, neck, wings and tail) then again, I covered it in a layer of sugarpaste thick enough to allow me to use a common drinking straw for imparting all the scales of the dragon. With further sugarpaste I modeled everything else.
The "bones" of the wings were made with some rolled aluminium foil (and embedded in the body), the membranes with sugarpaste. With the same drinking straw used for the scales I also made the coins one by one.
Once all the work was properly dried, I colored it with food pigments (I think "rainbow dust") and alcohol, because I didn't colored anything previously.

I'm really sorry if I answered late, and I hope I was helpful and clear enough... if not, feel free to ask again!

So realistic Though I've never heard of lemon cream and dark chocolate used together. Is the topper made of fondant or marzipan?

It's an unusual combination but it's good X)
Part of the treasure/gold and the belly of Smaug are made with rice crispies covered with fondant, all the rest it's all fondant.

Oh I don't doubt its good Been looking still can't see the rice crispies (not meant as an insult ) I've seen the other pic now and there are jewels...see through jewels!! I see your plot now you made this from clay and glass and your trying to trick us, well you haven't fooled me...*shifty eyes*

But in all truth this is lovely I hope your brother in law loved it and if he didn't well... and also just to warn you I may be stealing your next cake

The gemstones actually were made with gummy bears! XD
My brother in law really loved it, and held the dragon on a shelf for a long time... fortunately. Then Smaug began to decompose XD
Thank you!
