Oh, I just gave her tinted contact lenses in Photoshop, after I scanned the drawing in. I could have done this with watercolor on the orig, but didn't think of the idea 'til after I scanned it.

I use charcoal pencils and gouache (opaque watercolor) for the hair. It's mostly an illusion; I look for the highlights and shadows that define the hair (and the shape of the head), and block those in loosely, then I go back and draw any strands I need for detail.

I block it in alot with just light and shadow tone, then just draw some of the detail strands. Kind of fools the eye and unifies the whole.
