Description She has a semi-transparent visor and only the cape is touching the ground ... I think this is one of my coolest builds/templates to date.

Amazing!
At first glance I thought it was supported with the foot, this is pure genius
And thanks for sharing!

That is so cool! The patterns and folds on her cape and her visor are soooo stunning!   What did you make the visor out of, and how is the cape so strong?

Thx!

The cape has a hard steel wire in it that enters the body on the back of the shoulder straight through an expanding foam blob on the inside then continues to the other shoulder into a final expanding foam blob that fixes it in place. The cape itself is double layered and has a wavy cross section so its not apparent where it hides the wire.

The visor is just a piece from a cloth softener bottle (I was really lucky to find a bottle with this color )

That's genius! And indeed... you ARE lucky to find the visor because it looks stunning! At first I wondered if you 3d-printed it(if I recall correctly did you print EDI's visor too)?

Congrats on your awesome model (which is definitely next on my to-do-list)!.... just need to finish up my current project... soon..........

Nah EDI's visor is made by laminating printable plastic sheets, as in I've printed I think 3 flat parts with the pattern on it, each a bit smaller to account for the curvature of the visor, and used those and 2 parts cut from a transparent yellow plastic sheet. I used quick setting glue to glue them together on one end. After it set I set the lowest one in shape and glued the other sides in place. finally used a scalpel to make the edges uniform.

That's genius! The visor must have been pretty sturdy then. At first look I thought that there were horizontal cuts, but I guess the texture was so good that it fooled my eyes   If you did this without laminating, is it possible to prevent smudging of the ink?

Well if you make the the printed side face inward, and give it plenty of time to the ink to dry, you shouldn't have much problem with it.

OR you could use transparent tape over the printed surface, just be careful with the tape, because some might have a glue that would make the printer dye run.

Also if you have a steady hand with a scalpel you could scratch and ink in the pattern in the plastic sheet, that would make it more smudge resistant I guess, I might try it when I'm making the omni-tool for Nyreen.

Great ideas! I think I'll try printing stuff face-in when I try EDI or Tali. In the past I also tried using tape, but it was very easy to smudge, and the tape(since it wasn't big enough) left thin gaps. Then again.... I tried it on a Yugioh card(don't ask) which was way too big anyway.

You're making Nyreen? That would be so cool, especially with the omni-tool and all. Can't wait!
