I like your really rendered work but there is something so nice about how you've just worked with shape language, gesture, and texture that makes it so appealing. I haven't seen HANNA yet, but I've heard others compare it to the early fairy tales which are very dark. I think this is very appropriate. Simple. And lovely. Do you think you might do more work like this?

Thanks so much! I really appreciate the comment. I personally enjoy art that tends to be more simple, using simple shapes and colour, but I don't feel that I'm that good (or comfortable) drawing that kind of art. It's something I strive for, and often fail to achieve. Maybe I will get better at it some day.

I think this is a common feeling. I've only recently really started dabbling with a simpler style. It's hard because I'm used to drawing in this very controlled and lucid way that when I start drawing more expressively like I am somehow doing something wrong. Like this isn't illustration because - insert rational argument here -. But I've been looking at a lot of people, Lorraine Fox in particular. Artists that have been working this way for a long time, which helps legitimate it in some small way and allows me to pursue it. It's definitely something that takes a long time to master, but that's also what makes it exciting.
